The man -- or rather the eyes -- behind the man that brought winning football to Toronto

The Toronto Huskies ended the 2023 NFL regular season with a league best record of 13-3, the highest scoring offense in the league despite losing their franchise quarterback for over a month, the league's second leading rusher, the league's leading receiver, the league's leading sack artist who also broke a record and the league leader's in interceptions. What do they all have in common? They were once just a sticky note on Stephon White's vast whiteboard in his office on 1 Husky Drive.

White was promoted to Executive Vice President and Assistant General Manager on Tuesday, becoming the youngest Assistant GM in the NFL at the age of 30. The promotion keeps White, one of the NFL's most sought after set of eyes, in the building and from being poached during the front office re-alignment period that follows the regular season.

Originally hired as a football operations intern for the Carolina Panthers back in 2013, White served as a coaching intern in 2014 before he was promoted to a scouting assistant and eventually a college scout himself for the remainder of Ron Rivera's tenure in Carolina. White was pivotal in the Panthers' scouting and eventual drafting of running back Christian McCaffrey.

When Rivera was fired by Carolina and hired in Washington, White followed Rivera to Washington where he was promoted to Assistant Director of College Scouting. When the entire football staff was blown up following the purchase and relocation of the Redskins franchise, White was one of the few personnel kept along with Doug Williams. White was then promoted in 2021 and has since served as the Director of Player Personnel.

Notable 'hand-picked' players by White include RB Angel McBride (1,470 rushing yards as a rookie), RB Sherwin Florence (2022 Offensive Rookie of the Year), CB Ashley Konrad (24 interceptions in 32 games) and OLB Nolan Garrison (9.5 sacks in 2023). White has served as the 'secondary' voice behind general manager Louis Riddick since 2021 in all 'personnel related' matters.

"Toronto isn't where they are without White," said a source within the organization, "Louis [Riddick] is the captain of the ship but White does a lot of steering."

Defense shows up, shows out as Huskies dominate Cowboys to advance to first ever NFC Championship Game
Todd Bowles was hired for a few reasons but chief among them was to be able to beat the Dallas Cowboys and improve the defense so that when the Toronto Huskies offense was stalling, they would still be in the game.

For a half, the Huskies shut out the Cowboys offense and allowed just five points the entire game as the Huskies beat the Cowboys 32-5 to advance to the Conference Championship game.

Dak Prescott completed just 40 percent of his passes and was intercepted twice while the defense also slowed down Ezekiel Elliott, holding the rushing title champion to 3.6 yards per carry.
