Kliff would be a great hire! would be fun to air it out
Yeah I'm looking forward to airing it out. Plus it will be a good challenge for me. I'm better at running than I am passing.

Kliff Kingsbury is Mississippi State’s New Head Coach
Rob Stock-- Bulldogs Report

Kliff Kingsbury was announced today as the next head football coach of the Mississippi State Bulldogs, in a move that will delight many Mississippi State fans. The position had been vacant for several weeks following the firing of Jeff Lebby, who violated his contract by having his father-in-law and former Baylor coach Art Briles appear to act as an official representative of the university. This puts an end to a coaching search that kept many fans frantic as the season was so close to starting.

The story of how Kliff Kingsbury became the next Mississippi State head coach was actually pretty simple.

“He was our number one target from the get go. We knew he fit the profile of the play style and philosophy we wanted this football program to take towards the future. Any rumors of us hiring another coach was just that, a rumor. There was never anyone else for this program,” said a university official at the press conference announcing Kingsbury as the new head coach.

While many are excited for Kingsbury to become the new head coach many point out his less than stellar record as a head coach. In 6 seasons at Texas Tech, Kingsbury only had 2 winning seasons and every year the conference record was below .500. Kingsbury’s total record at Texas Tech was 35-40. Similarly in the NFL at Arizona he only had 1 winning record in 4 seasons. An 11-6 record in 2021 where they lost to the eventual Super Bowl champions, the Los Angeles Rams. Kingsbury’s NFL record with Arizona was 28-37-1.

Despite these perceived setbacks one of the things Kingsbury does well is work with and develop quarterbacks. This is becoming all too important in modern college football both for recruiting and on the field results. Some of the notable quarterbacks Kingsbury has coached are Case Keenum (Houston, Offense Quality Coach), Heisman winner Johnny Manziel (Texas A&M, Offensive Coordinator), Future Heisman Baker Mayfield (Texas Tech, HC), Patrick Mahomes (Texas Tech, HC), NFC ROY Kyler Murrary (Arizona Cardinals, HC), Caleb Williams (USC, Offense Analyst), Jayden Daniels (Washington Commanders, OC).

A strong resume of working with and developing promising quarterbacks is one of the more likely reasons Mississippi State brought on Kingsbury. It will be up to him to put together a staff that will complement his abilities and lead the Bulldogs to improved success in the SEC.
