Las Vegas' Michael Mayer among a bevy of NFL players on the move during busy final week of the preseason
Former Notre Dame star tight end Michael Mayer is returning to the state of Indiana after being traded to the Indianapolis in exchange for linebacker Kenneth Murray and a 2027 seventh round pick.
Mayer, a former second round pick, has seen his role reduced following the drafting of tight end Brock Bowers. Since catching 27 passes as a rookie for the Raiders, he has caught just twenty passes in the past two seasons combined. In that same time, Bowers has caught at least 52 receptions in his first two seasons.
Mayer projects to be a top target for Anthony Richardson, joining the trio of receivers Michael Pittman Jr, Josh Downs and Adonai Mitchell. Richardson's fifth-year option was picked up, setting him up to make $45.2 million in 2027.
