that recruiting class is some ass for the SEC

gonna need to hit the portal hard
This is what I get for having a house rule that limits me to 3 star recruits since my program is ass and only 2.5 stars.

A lot of SEC teams, ACC, and B10 teams round it out with the Big 12 taking a non top-12 conference winner spot? Yeah very strange.

6 Bulldogs collect accolades
Rob Stock – Bulldog Report

For the first time since Mike Leach was the head coach of the Mississippi State Bulldogs, the Bulldogs have made a bowl game. Along with this accomplishment 5 different Bulldogs have earned a postseason accolade for their efforts this season. Leading the way is MIKE linebacker Derion Gullette who collected the Chuck Bednarik Award, the Bronko Nagurksi Trophy, the Dick Butkus Award, 1st Team All-American, and 1st Team All-SEC. Tank Hawkins was the other Bulldog to collect a trophy by winning the Jet Award for the country's best returner. Running back A'marion Peterson, defensive tackle Trevion Williams, and cornerback Jayven Williams all were named to the 2nd Team All-SEC team. Lastly, running back Kolin Wilson was named to the Freshman All-SEC team.

Derion Gullette emerges from the post season awards as the nation's clear top defensive player. Earning the Chuck Bednarik Award for the best defensive player, the Bronko Nagurksi Trophy also for the best defensive player, and the Dick Butkus award for the best linebacker. Gullette earned the starting MIKE lineback role this season following the graduation of Branden Jennings, who was a 1st Team All-SEC last year. Gullette also flourished with a change to the 3-3-5 defense. He lead the nation with tackles with 124, led the nation with tackles for loss with 37 which is almost double second place and was 6th in the nation and first in the SEC with 5 sacks. Gullette was clearly a leader on this team that set the pace and helped them accomplish their first bowl game since 2023.

Tank Hawkins collects the Jet Award for the best returner of the year. Hawkins, a transfer from Florida, led the nation with 3 return touchdowns (2 kick, 1 punt). Hawkins is also the leading receiver for the Bulldogs this season with 371 yards on 28 catches and 4 touchdowns. The junior has had a tremendous impact on the Bulldogs and will be looking to build upon this momentum going into the 2027 season.

A'marion Peterson, Trevion Williams, and Jayven Williams all collected 2nd Team All-SEC accolades.

A'marion Peterson, a junior, was an early Heisman contender and led the nation in rushing for most of the early season but then fell victim to injuries that forced him to miss 3 games. He finished with 1,158 yards on 190 carries and 7 touchdowns. That total placed him 6th in the SEC in rushing yards.

Jayven Williams, a senior cornerback from Mobile, AL, finished the regular season with 71 tackles, 2 TFL, and 3 interceptions. He lead the Bulldogs in interceptions and was 8th in the SEC for interceptions.

Trevion Williams, a senior defensive tackle from Crystal Springs, MS, finished the season with 33 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, and 9 sacks. He led the Bulldogs with 9 sacks and was 3rd in the SEC for sacks.

Kolin Wilson was named for the Freshman All-SEC team. He finished the season with 207 yards on 34 carries, and 1 touchdown. He was the leading freshman running back in the SEC this season. Wilson averaged 6.1 yards per carry, the same as teammate A'marion Peterson, which 5th highest total for running back in the SEC.

Fair enough.

Yeah it was great to get some awards, weird to have the best defensive player but our defense was kind of meh this year.
