Drake Maye, New England Patriots snap three-game losing streak with gritty win over Chargers
The New England Patriots ended their three game winning streak in rainy Foxborough, outlasting the Los Angeles Chargers in a decisive 21-6 win on Sunday.

In a game between two of the game's best young quarterbacks in Drake Maye and Justin Herbert, it quickly turned into a defensive slugfest after both teams scored on their opening possession but would score just three more times between them. Chargers safety Derwin James forced a fumble on rookie tight end Nyck Harbor in the redzone and Asante Samuel Jr. intercepted Maye in plus territory, spoiling two drives that the Patriots nearly scored on in the second and fourth quarter.

Herbert would leave the game on the final drive of the third quarter with an upper body injury after being sacked. Jake Haener replaced him and after Maye's interception, Haener had a nine-yard scramble on third down to get the ball into New England territory. The drive would stall out however, due to yet another New England sack, and Cameron Dicker's 54-yard field goal would fall short, allowing the game to remain 14-6 in New England's favor with six minutes left.

Stefon Diggs, making his debut for the Patriots since being traded from Houston, would make his impact felt with a nine-yard touchdown on fourth down on the ensuing drive, sealing the victory for New England. Diggs caught five passes for 30 yards in his debut.
