Hurricanes land four-star linebacker David Vallos following late push; latest on five-star Prince Egboh
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports Miami Insider
Four-star linebacker David Vallos has committed to the University of Miami, picking his childhood team over Ole Miss and Florida.
Vallos, who is teammates with former Miami target and Florida State commit Luis Bueno, became Miami's top priority at the position following Bueno's commitment to the Noles. A similar prospect, Vallos had been trending towards Ole Miss before Miami made the call and the final push.
"Once they said they wanted me and really started pushing for me, I knew I'd be a Hurricane," Vallos told CBS Sports, "I always wanted to be a Hurricane so I just needed them to feel the same way and once I felt that after my visit, it was a wrap."
A bit of a throwback as a downhill, thumping linebacker, Vallos will need to continue to work on his flexibility, agility and coverage skills if he's going to be an every down player at the next level. Similar to his teammate, there are concerns about the competition level that Vallos has faced in high school but in a marquee game earlier this year, Vallos showed the ability to handle that step up in competition.
In less exciting news, Miami did lose out on five-star receiver Prince Egboh who chose Georgia over the hometown Hurricanes. Egboh took to social media following the announcement to defend his decision, citing the loss of offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson as one of the reasons he ultimately couldn't pick Miami.
"I just don't know where the offense is going," said Egboh, "I'm hearing this and they telling me this but when you watch them play, they don't really have a [passing offense] for real anymore, not since [Dawson] left so I just couldn't commit to a program that wasn't going to get me the ball like that."

It’s a time thing for me. I struggle with putting stuff together and would rather play the game than write.

i feel you, once you get in the habit of doing it, it speeds up. probably takes me about 5 mins for a write up, max 10 if I have to go back to the highlights to jog my memory of what happened or do research for a recruiting write up

(7-1, 4-0 ACC) #1 Miami Hurricanes at Wake Forest Demon Deacons (4-5, 2-4 ACC)
MIA | 6 | 10 | 3 | 3 | 22
WF | 0 | 3 | 3 | 0 | 6
Hurricanes struggle to finish off drive but able to finish off Demon Deacons
From their own 20-yard line to Wake Forest's 20-yard line, Miami had no problem going up and down the field against the Demon Deacons with quarterback Emory Williams completing 73 percent of his passes and throwing for a season high 302 yards. It's once they got there that Miami struggled.
The Hurricanes had to settle for field goals against Wake Forest with James Rutter hitting all five in Miami's 22-6 win on Saturday.
It was a tougher day for Wake Forest's offense as Jeremy Hecklinski threw four interceptions, negative some of the success that the Deacons were finding on the ground with senior running back Tate Carney averaging 6.3 yards per carry and finishing the game with 51 rushing yards.
It was the first game of the year that Williams did not split time with Keke Hagg, who was dressed and on the sideline but did not enter the game. Miami head coach Mario Cristobal said after the game that the flow of the game was the reason why Hagg did not play.

Agreed, didn't want to turn the ball over so once we got in the red area, defenses play more press so screens, quick game, etc are limited
