Kept it close in the opener at least

Let the good times roll, time to build!
Kept game 1 close, there's positives in that.
it was a weird game. felt like a blowout at first and then it looked like we would keep it close and then it looked like we might win but we just couldn't close it out. both promising and showing signs for concern.

The offense is lowkey stacked. I don't think they'll make the playoffs bc of how stack the B10 is but I wouldn't be surprised if they're in the playoff picture till the end

The Good
Dexter Williams's 50-yard touchdown was the lone touchdown and highlight of the day for the Owls as it was an impressive throw and catch by Christian Moss over Buford native Ryland Gandy for the Hoosiers. There wasn't much else to be excited about for Kennesaw State fans other than the fact that the Hoosiers are likely a playoff team and they did manage to score on them and kept it respectful for at least a half.
The Bad
The Owls had three drops on the game, all coming during late down situations that would have helped improved the 35 percent conversion on third down. The Owls fell down early and had to try to throw themselves back into the game.
They were unable to due to those drops and when they did go back to the running game, there wasn't much success there as Coleman Bennett was held to just 3.3 yards per carry. While the Owls were outmatched, there were still mistakes made that had nothing to do with talent, a point that head coach Bubba Mack reiterated during his post-game appearance on 107.5 The Fan with Mr. Nice Guy.
"Obviously, there are NFL bodies on that roster," Mack said, "We don't expect our guys to beat their guys on every single play, all across the board. No matter who you play, you're not going to win every single matchup and when you're playing a team that, if we're being honest, has more talent than you on paper, you just need to be able to do the simple things that have nothing to do with talent at a high level. We were poor in that area today but we'll improve."
The Bleep That Gets You Beat
This game likely ends in this manner no matter what but another slow start for the Owls highlights potential problems down the road. Already trailing by seven with five minutes left in the first, Gerard Bullock Jr. makes an impressive move to break a tackle on third and seven and as he turns up field to try to reach the marker, the bar is jarred loose and recovered by the Hoosiers.
The Hoosiers then go on a nine play drive, all positive gains with not a single incompletion, and get their second touchdown of the day. It was all she wrote after that and an early dinner. Kennesaw State cannot afford to continue with these slow starts and once conference play begins, it'll be an interesting to note if this was simply a talent issue against P4 opponents or part of this team's identity. Mack was candid about this after the game.
"I think it's too early to say one way or another," Mack said after the game, "We've got the belief in our team and the guys on the field but at some point, you are what you do well and you are what you don't do well. We're going to keep grinding, keep working and we'll figure it out but it needs to get better."

i forgot if it was you or James who I first saw use it. salute to whoever that was. unfortunately, we only had one conference game to feature

I'm not sure how in depth i want to go with "around the nation" since Ohio State being top five has no impact on what we got going on right now

‣ Kennesaw State head coach Bubba Mack celebrates his first win as a head coach while the program is still struggling to find its identity.
Owls avoid near disastrous home opener, pull away to secure first win of the season

KENNESAW, Ga. -- Kennesaw State notched its first win of the season Saturday afternoon, shaking off a sluggish first quarter to defeat Merrimack 24-10 and improve to 1-2 on the year. The victory also marked the first career win for new head coach Bubba Mack, as the Owls continued adjusting to life beyond the FCS ranks.
The first 15 minutes were anything but smooth for Kennesaw. Facing an FCS opponent in Merrimack after opening the season with trips to Wake Forest and Indiana, the Owls looked flat out of the gate.
“We came out flat. I think some of our guys expected to win just by showing up,” Mack said. “That’s not who we are or who we want to be. But I did like the way we responded in the second half.”
That second-half response was led by quarterback Dexter Williams, who finished the game with 195 passing yards and two touchdowns. Though Williams’ performance was solid and steady, it was a lackluster day for the ground game, which is an expected strength for this Owls offense.
Senior running back Coleman Bennett, a bright spot in the loss to Wake Forest, was held to just 2.2 yards per carry—his lowest mark of the season. The Warriors’ defensive front consistently plugged running lanes, forcing the Owls to lean more heavily on the passing game than they likely expected.
