Punter Brandon Ryan commits to West Virginia

The college football season is halfway over, and the number two ranked West Virginia has finally gotten their first commit this season. Brandon Ryan, a two star punter, has chosen to play for West Virginia over South Carolina and North Carolina next season. With Billy Kinney graduating after this season, Ryan will most likely be the team's starting punter next year. The Clifton native played quarterback, kicker, and punter at Broome High School, leading them to a 9-4 season in his junior year. The Broome Centurions struggled in his senior year with a 5-7 record, however, due to the loss of many key seniors graduating the previous year.

While he got offers to play quarterback at several FCS programs including an FBS offer from Georgia State, most schools were recruiting him to play as a punter. Although his leg is not that strong, scouts were wowed by his consistent accuracy on pinning opponents behind the 20 yard line.

"I know my arm isn't anything special, but my leg is a different story. It would be an honor to be a part of a great program such as West Virginia. There has been many great special teams players that came from this program, and I would like to be a part of that."

Ryan is the #17 ranked punter in the country and the 1673th ranked recruit overall.
