Patriots CB Christian Gonzalez ruled out for Wild Card game against Kansas City
Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez has been ruled out of New England's wild card matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs after suffering a toe injury in practice this past week.
Gonzalez had been trending towards not playing since suffering the injury earlier in the week, appearing on Wednesday's official injury report. Patriots safety Jabril Peppers suffered a similar injury a few weeks prior and only missed one game, which is what the Patriots are hoping is the case should they get past Kansas City.
Despite recording an interception in the Week 17 matchup, Gonzalez had one of his lowest graded games this season per Pro Football Focus against Kansas City. It's one of just two games that PFF had graded Gonzalez below a 67. The All-Pro corner was surely looking for a chance to improve upon his last outing but the Patriots will now need to rely on Benjamin St-Juste to slide into the starting lineup along with usual starters Marcus Jones and Daylen Everette.

‣ NFL 2026 Wild Card - Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, Massachusetts
(10-8) Kansas City Chiefs at New England Patriots (15-3)
KC | 3 | 0 | 7 | 0 | 10
NE | 0 | 17 | 14 | 0 | 31
New England intercepts Patrick Mahomes three times in dominant Wild card win
Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs handed Tom Brady one of his final losses in Gillette Stadium as the Chiefs would go on to win the Super Bowl in 2019, the first of three championships as part of their short-lived dynasty.
Drake Maye, Lavonte David and the New England Patriots returned the favorite, routing Mahomes and Kansas City 31-10 on Saturday to end Kansas City's season and bring into question serious doubts about the future of the Chiefs following another early playoff exit.
The Chiefs led for must of the first half until Maye and New England's offense was able to convert from third and nineteen with an eighteen yard completion to Stefon Diggs and then on fourth and one, picked up their second fourth-down conversion of the drive with an Antonio Gibson nine-yard scamper. Derrick Henry would finish the drive with a touchdown, jumpstarting a 17-0 run to end the first half that was aided by two interceptions by linebacker Lavonte David, including one in the final minute of the first half on New England's own 33 yard line.
With fifty seconds left, Maye completed passes of eight, nine and ten yards before finding Christian Watson across the middle of the field in the final eight seconds of the first half to set up Andres Borregales' 34 yard field goal to take the 17-3 lead at halftime.
Kansas City and Mahomes would never recover as New England leaned on their running game to close it out.

they definitely nerfed Mahomes down, he's not aggressive as he used to be and when he is, he is throwing into double coverage
i'll take it though
