Since you primarily recruit of Florida you do a great job of building the narrative on these guys who you didn't recruit but are now in the portal. Makes for an interesting story.

Canes land Isaac Brown, Elias Williams out of the portal to finish with top ten overall recruiting class
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports Miami Insider

The Miami Hurricanes only signed sixteen high school players this cycle, allowing them to hone in on some of the top transfers available and that they did, signing running back Isaac Brown out of Louisville and the second ranked defensive end in the portal in Elias Williams.

It was a tough battle for Williams who had Clemson and Alabama on his shortlist but the opportunity to be part of a rotation that has been record shattering for the Hurricanes was too much to pass on. For Brown, it was a chance to return home after the Hurricanes didn't offer him out of high school.

Miami also landed safety David Jester out of Ole Miss who is expected to provide depth to their secondary.

Miami's recruiting class, when factoring in transfers, is ranked fifth in the nation and is the top class in the ACC.

Highlights from the Miami Hurricanes' first week of spring ball
Manny Ledo -- The Miami Herald Sports Columnist

Mario Cristobal might be the king of the offseason but football games are won on the practice field and the Miami Hurricanes got back to that this week as they had their first practice for spring football. Miami has rattled off three straight seasons with at least eleven wins but that sixth national championship remains elusive.

  • Sophomore QB Keke Hagg is the real deal
In his second year in Chris Weinke's offense and with the starting spot solidified (but not announced), sophomore quarterback Keke Hagg continues to impress the coaching staff and teammates with his progression as a passer.

Expect Miami to be a more explosive and unpredictable offense with Hagg under center full time as his ability to drive the ball down the field is impressive as well as being able to fit the ball in tight windows. It feels that after the early interceptions, Emory Williams got a little bit more conservative and risk adverse while Hagg has been able to balance that line between being risk tolerant and being reckless.

There'll be growing pains for sure but with a talented group of receivers, the sky is the limit for Hagg this year.
    -
  • Miami adjusting to life in the 3-4 defense
Miami fans might have some PTSD about the 3-4 defense and Mark D'Onofrio but they shouldn't as Miami's roster is more equipped this time around to make the shift from a four-man front to a three-man front under new defensive coordinator Skylor Magee.

Magee hasn't been shy about the fact that Miami will still run a lot of the same nickel looks they did last year with four down linemen, two linebackers and five defensive backs which is a staple of modern football.

Armando Blount remains at defensive end as a five-technique but we've seen Walt Coffey, Elias Rudolph and Cole McConathy II, who were defensive ends last year, now working with the outside linebackers.

A former five-star, the switch might be exactly what Coffey needs after registering four sacks in his first two seasons at Miami as a backup behind Marquise Lightfoot, Reuben Bain and Blount. Coffey is projected to be a starter and he was a 3-4 outside linebacker in high school before making the switch once he got to Miami.
    -
  • Isaac Brown looking like RB1
It's early but among the four scholarship running backs, Louisville transfer Isaac Brown stands out with his vision, explosiveness and ability to change direction of the drop of a hat.

Brown is Miami's most experienced ball carrier with over 1,000 career rushing yards and averaged 58.8 yards per game last year for the Cardinals.

Redshirt senior Chris Johnson Jr. saw a reduction in role in Weinke's offense as he went from 99 carries as a sophomore to just 31 last year and just eighteen receptions after catching 35 passes the previous year.
