STARKVILLE – Mississippi State quarterback Austin Carlisle received 1,276 points, becoming just the third MSU player to earn votes for the Heisman Trophy. LSU's Bryce Underwood won the Heisman Saturday night with 1,304 points, beating out Carlisle and LSU teammate TaRon Francis with former Mississippi State quarterback and current Ole Miss quarterback Kamario Taylor finishing fourth.

Carlisle is a two-time finalist and becomes the first player to earn votes at two different schools and two different positions. Carlisle also took home the Paul Hornung Award for the second straight season in a row after throwing for 4,107 yards and rushed for 1,296 yards with fifty nine total touchdowns.

Mississippi State battles UTSA in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl on Jan 2 at 8:10 p.m. on ESPN from EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville.
