Drake Maye earns win in first career start as Pats hold off Jags rally
Third and goal. The game hanging in the balance. Drake Maye to Ja'Lynn Polk. Touchdown. The future is now.

In his first career start, Maye gave New England fans plenty to root for, leading the Patriots to their first win since the opener, beating the Jacksonville Jaguars 24-13 in London to earn his first win as a starter.

It was Jacksonville, not New England, that made crucial mistakes in key moments. With the gamed tie at ten apiece, Trevor Lawrence completed a 56-yard pass to Gabe Davis to with a minute left to respond to Maye's perfectly executed two minute drill, which resulted in a touchdown pass to Demario Douglas to tie the game. Following the 56-yard completion, Lawrence could find Evan Engram to get the ball to the New England five-yard line with 49 seconds remaining.

A sack would push the Jaguars back and on third and goal, Lawrence's scramble would be stopped short of the goal line. Jacksonville initially lined up to kick a field goal but instead opted to go for it with Lawrence's pass to Christian Kirk falling incomplete.

It would be a huge difference maker in a second half that was void of offense, with both offenses being shutout in the third quarter. Maye would eventually get it going, converting a fourth and five from the Jacksonville 37-yard line with a 21-yard completion to a leaping Kendrick Bourne. A few plays later, Maye found the reliable Hunter Henry for a three-yard touchdown to take the lead.

Maye completed 24 of 35 passes for 270 yards and three touchdowns. New England got plenty of production from his supporting cast as well with Rhamondre Stevenson rushing for 112 yards and the defense bowed up in the second half, dedicating a spy defender to stop Lawrence who rushed for 61 yards in the first half.

Lawrence would respond, converting a fourth and five with a 27-yard completion to Brian Thomas Jr, the only catch surrendered by Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez all game. The Patriots defense would eventually stiffen, forcing Jacksonville to settle fora field goal with five minutes left, leading to Maye's game clinching touchdown to Polk on a drive that took eleven plays and ate up the clock to seal the win.

Patriots Trade Davon Godchaux to Ravens for 2025 Fifth-Round Pick
Foxborough, MA – In a surprising move, the New England Patriots have traded defensive tackle Davon Godchaux to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for a 2025 fifth-round pick. This trade comes as the Patriots continue to reshape their roster for the future with Godchaux being the second veteran, following receiver K.J. Patriots can't overcome turnovers, defensive busts in home loss to rival Jets
Davante Adams might have had a quiet day in his New York Jet debut with his longest catch going for fourteen yards but his presence was felt as Aaron Rodgers threw for 399 yards and three touchdowns in the Jets' 37-26 win over the Patriots on Sunday.

The Jets were aided by two New England turnovers that led to ten points in the second half and three busted coverages that resulted in touchdown passes of 65, 56 and 47 yards. Mike Williams caught two of them, ending the game with seven catches for 181 yards while Tyler Conklin had the 65-yard touchdown.

Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson's early fumble led to him being benched for most of the game, carrying the ball just five times as Drake Maye finished the game with the most carries on the team, all scrambles for 43 yards. With the Patriots trailing for the entire game, Maye had 49 drop backs in just his second start; seven turning into scrambles, was sacked three times and completed 27 of 39 pass attempts. He finished the day with 332 yards and three touchdowns to three different receivers in Demario Douglas, Hunter Henry and Kendrick Bourne.
