Hawai‘i Dominates Early, Cruises Past Oregon State

Honolulu, HI -- In the friendly confines of the islands, #3 Hawai‘i continued to look every bit like a national contender.

Behind another sharp outing from quarterback Dermaricus Davis and a suffocating first-half performance on both sides of the ball, the Rainbow Warriors rolled past Oregon State, 30–13, improving to 4–0 on the season.

Hawai‘i wasted no time establishing control.

After an early defensive stand forced Oregon State into a mistake-filled opening possession, the Warriors capitalized with a methodical drive capped by a 1-yard touchdown run from Glen Wayne, giving Hawai‘i a 7–0 lead.

From there, the momentum never wavered.

The second quarter turned the game into a showcase for Hawaii’s offense.

Davis began to carve up the Beavers’ defense, connecting on multiple chunk plays before finding Antoine Stokes for a 37-yard touchdown and Nate Roberts for a 9-yard score.

Add in a late 22-yard field goal from Sean McFarland, and Hawai‘i took a commanding 24–0 halftime lead, leaving little doubt about which team was in control.

While the offense piled up points, Hawaii’s defense was just as dominant early.

The Warriors generated consistent pressure, recording multiple sacks and disrupting Oregon State’s rhythm throughout the first half. The Beavers struggled to sustain drives and were held scoreless through two quarters.

Even when Oregon State found some life in the third — including a 58-yard field goal and a touchdown pass from Derek Walker to Glenn Reeshad — the damage had already been done.

Any hopes of a comeback were quickly extinguished in the fourth quarter.

McFarland continued his strong night, drilling field goals from 47 and 53 yards, stretching the lead back to three possessions and putting the game firmly out of reach.

In total, Hawaii’s special teams provided a steady, reliable edge — turning scoring opportunities into points and maintaining control of the game’s tempo.

Rebels Ground No. 13 North Carolina, 31–13, in Statement Win at Allegiant Stadium

Las Vegas, NV -- In a sport where ranked teams are expected to survive hostile road environments, No. 13 North Carolina never found its footing Saturday night.

UNLV made sure of that.

Behind a composed and efficient performance from quarterback Treston McMillan, the Rebels controlled the game from the outset and never relinquished that grip, rolling to a 31–13 victory in a result that felt far more lopsided than the final score indicated.

UNLV wasted little time asserting itself.

A sharp opening drive, highlighted by a deep strike down the left side, set up a Kamran Williams 5-yard touchdown run, giving the Rebels a 7–0 lead and igniting a crowd eager for an upset.

North Carolina answered only with a 41-yard field goal, and that would become a theme — the Tar Heels moved the ball at times, but rarely with purpose or payoff.

McMillan, steady in the pocket and dangerous outside of it, orchestrated two scoring drives that broke the game open. He found Andrew Barker for a 28-yard touchdown, then capped the half himself with a 22-yard run, slipping through the defense untouched.

By halftime, UNLV led 21–6, and the sense around the stadium was clear — the Rebels weren’t just hanging with a ranked opponent, they were dictating terms.

McMillan finished with 191 yards passing and two touchdowns, adding 131 yards and a score on the ground. He delivered timely throws while keeping drives alive with his legs.

While the offense built the lead, UNLV’s defense quietly suffocated North Carolina.

The Tar Heels were held without a touchdown through three quarters, settling for field goals and struggling to sustain drives against a defense that consistently won at the line of scrimmage.

Pressure forced hurried decisions, and when North Carolina did find rhythm, it was quickly disrupted.

Any chance of a late push ended early in the fourth.

McMillan again went to the air, finding Brian Ismail for a 4-yard touchdown that extended the lead to 31–6 and effectively sealed the outcome.

North Carolina added a late score, but it came well after the result had been decided.

For UNLV, this wasn’t a fluke or a frantic upset bid. It was controlled, deliberate, and earned.

The Rebels executed cleanly, avoided costly mistakes, and matched — and often exceeded — the physicality of a ranked opponent.

More importantly, they looked like a team gaining confidence.

With the win, UNLV improves to 3–1, and if Saturday night proved anything, it’s that teams traveling to Las Vegas will have more to worry about than just the environment.

They’ll have to deal with a team that knows exactly who it is.
