BRONCOS STAKE THEIR CLAIM TO THE KINGDOM

For years Boise State dominated the Mountain West Conference well earning fan's across the nation with their underdog story winning the 2007 Fiesta Bowl against Oklahoma and defeating other Power 5 programs like Georgia. Arizona State kept things close till midway through the 2nd Quarter trailing (14-13) but Boise State closed out the 1st half with a pair of touchdowns as Tua Draft finds Tyler Crook for back to back scores taking a commanding (28-13) lead into the locker room.

Boise State would extend the lead to (35-13) midway through the 3rd Quarter as FB Tyler Fry would score his 3rd touchdown of the day. as the Boise State run game continue to dominate as they go over 200 yds before the 4th Quarter.

Arizona State would open up the 4th Quarter with a touchdown and the Sun Devils would convert the 2pt play to make it (35-21) The Sun Devils had a chance to make a game of it midway through the 4th Quarter after picking off Draft but True Freshman QB Jamie Cuevas would throw his own INT right back to the Bronco Defense as SR OLB Joseph Keenroy grabs his 4th INT of the season.. Cuevas would finish the day 21/39 (53%) throwing for 295 yds with the INT

Draft would rebound from his early mistake finding his big TE Josh Flaherty for a 26 yd gain before connecting with Keshaun Buckner for a 20 yd touchdown as Boise State seals the victory..

SELECTION SUNDAY

Championship Week played havoc on the Final Top-25 rankings as we saw upsets in both the Big 12 and Big Ten Championships.

#15 Michigan pulled off the biggest upset defeating #4 Pitt (29-24) securing a spot in the playoffs as the #12 seed. The Panthers with the loss drop to #9 in the rankings and instead of having a Top-4 seed and 1st Round "Bye" will have to travel in Round 1.

#1 Oklahoma State's perfect season comes to a end as #8 Texas pulls off the (39-23) upset.. With the win Texas jumps 4 spots in the Final rankings earning the #4 seed well Ok State despite the loss drops just 1 spot to #2 in the rankings as they secure a Top-4 seed at #2.

#2 Clemson defeated #3 Georgia (35-27) to win the ACC Championship and with the victory jump to #1 claiming the top seed in the tournament but despite the loss, Georgia remains at #3 securing the #3 seed.

This means that both the ACC Champion and runner-up and the Big 12 Champion and runner up will be the Top-4 seeds in this year's play.

#5 (11-1) Florida despite not playing in Championship week secures the #5 seed meaning the Gators will take host the Big Ten Champs in Round 1.

#9 Ole Miss defeats #18 Alabama (50-48) to secure the Sec Championship and keep their undefeated season alive but their reward is just a jump 1 spot in the rankings to #8 meaning they will host Pitt in Round 1.

Boise State moves from #7 to #6 after their Pac-12 win meaning the Broncos will host #11 seed (10-2) Oklahoma in Round 1. The Broncos and Sooners played each other last year in the Quarter Finals.. For Boise State the game will feature a chance to secure their 30th straight home victory and a chance to be the only school in NCAA history to have (3) 30 game home winning streaks.

#6 (10-2) Nebraska falls to #7 in the final rankings but the Cornhuskers will still host in the first round as #10 (10-2) Miami in a rematch of the 2002 Rose Bowl/National Championship as well as the 1984 and 1995 Orange Bowl's.

With Michigan claiming the #12 seed, that leaves #12 (9-3) Notre Dame, #13 (10-2) Oregon, #15 (9-3) UCLA and #16 (9-3) Ohio State as this year's First 4 out as well as (12-1) UConn who won the American Championship finishing the year ranked #19.

Yeah losing the 5* QB hurts, but there are some solid guy's in the Portal when I simmed ahead to look. I also was able to retain both my #3 and 4 QB's on the dept chart who are both RS Freshman so both players could be in the mix to replace Tua Draft in 2032. However now my WR room is a concern because in the sim not only did Bettis/Crook/Moses graduate but Buckner declares early as well as my TE Josh Flaherty leaving my RB Jermarucs Boykins as my leading receiver returning next year. So WR will be a key position in the portal to find some guy's with some game time experience.

It was a must win.. A loss and I am pretty sure my playoff run would've been over with how the rest of Championship Week played out. The Class is coming together pretty well but with 20 Seniors, 10 open roster spots and 4-5 guy's declaring early and hitting the portal I am going to need this year's class to be a huge one. I need depth at WR, D-Line, Linebackers and Safety..

BRONCOS AND SOONERS MAKE HISTORY YET AGAIN

GAME RECAP
Boise State and Oklahoma's have a history of making history together.. The Duo gave sports fan's one of the great college football games of all times in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl so it was only fitting that it was the Sooners facing Boise State as they looked to win their 30th straight home game setting a new NCAA record as the only school to have (3) 30 game home win streaks in the last century.

You knew it was Boise State's night when SR QB Lee Gooch (96 Ovr) the Heisman runner up goes down on the opening drive leaving Oklahoma in the hands of backup QB Roberto Sabri (84). The Redshirt Sophomore would come through though with his biggest game of his career leading the Oklahoma to 4 scores but it just wasn't enough.

Tied (7-7) at the end of the 1st Quarter and again (21-21) with under 2 minutes to play, Boise State would take the (28-21) lead as Tua Draft finds Tyler Crook on a 77 yd bomb to give the Broncos the lead going into the locker room. BSU would never look back.

Draft and Crook would hookup on the opening drive of the 2nd half as well as BSU extends their lead to (35-21), with the Defense finally stating to take notice of Crook, Kelian Bettis finally breaks free getting 1 on 1 coverage as he extends the lead to (42-21) to close out the 3rd.

Sabri would go over 400 yds midway through the 4th Quarter as he throws his 4th TD finding his SO TE Frederick Bakhtiara (82 ovr(. Oklahoma then left the offense on the field for the 2pt play as they cut the lead to (42-29) The Oklahoma Defense then came up with a big play as they pick off Draft on a 3rd and 4 play as BSU looked to pickup the 1st down in attempts to keep their drive alive. with 2:48 to play.. Could the Sooners have their own miracle? The answer is no as Sabri is picked off by FS Joey Wayne.. Oklahoma out of timeouts were forced to watch as BSU ran off most of the clock before sending Diego Gutierrez for a 23 yd FG for the final points of the game.
FINAL SCORE BOISE STATE-45 OKLAHOMA-29
KEY BRONCOS
QB T. Draft-25/39 (64%) 435 yds 4 TD 1 INT
RB B. Crum-28 carries 82 yds 1 TD
RB/FB T. Fry-3 carries 27 yds 1 TD
RB J. Boykins-5 carries 17 yds
WR T. Crook-8 rec 182 yds 2 TD
WR K. Bettis-8 rec 139 yds 1 TD
WR K. Buckner-3 rec 38 yds
TE J. Flaherty-3 rec 41 yds 1 TD
TE R. Carney-2 rec 30 yds
FS J. Wayne-1 INT

UP NEXT

Boise State will advance to the Fiesta Bowl, a stadium they know very well as they prepare to take on #3 Georgia.. Can the Bulldogs keep the Broncos for creating more history as BSU looks to become the first team in NCAA history to win 3 straight National Championships since Minnesota won in 1934,35 and 36.

Yeah I thought that Flaherty would at least take home the Mackey. He had better #'s then the guy who won. I think Crum would've won the Doak Walker had he stayed healthy all year. But yeah extra motivation to just go when the whole thing.
