Keaton, Chargers Agree on Extension
The Los Angeles Chargers announced on their social media page that they have re-signed pass rusher Rashard Keaton to a five-year extension.

The deal just comes one week after ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the team had hit a road block with their former number one overall pick regarding the year over year money. In the report, Schefter detailed that the team wanted to keep Keaton wanted to go over the $13 million mark while the team was adamant on keeping him in a deal that was on par with the four year, $32.8 million deal that Toronto Huskies edge rusher Nolan Garrison received three years ago.

According to initial reports, the deal is somewhere in the middle with the reported number being $62.3 million over five years, stretching out the deal to give Keaton a cap hit of $11.1 million in 2029 and maxing out his deal in 2033 at $13.9 million. The low cap hit numbers until 2030 -- relatively speaking -- gives Los Angeles some flexibility as some other draft prospects will be due for extensions such as Vincent Zellner and quarterback Will Castonzo.

The timing of the detail is likely linked to Tennessee's Derrick Pope and Tampa's Harmon Booth receiving extensions. Both Pope and Booth were drafted after Keaton but have arguably been more productive. Booth's deal peaks at $15.8 million while Pope's peaks at $11.9 million. Both signed shorter, three year deals.

The extension still gives Los Angeles upwards of $45 million to potentially re-sign guys like Joey Bosa and Hunter Henry or potentially replace the 33-year old combo. They could opt to save some of that money to help re-sign their 2026 draft class which included the aforementioned Zellner along with defensive back Samuel Fleming and some potentially key free agents in offensive linemen Austin Griggs and Stephen Zeigler.

The AFC West is turning out to be football's best division with three undefeated teams in Kansas City, Denver and the defending champions Chargers. D'Eriq King was able to overcome a slow start last season and lead Denver to the playoffs where they would lose to the eventual champions.

For the first time since the Peyton Manning-led Broncos, Denver came into the year with expectations and have lived up to them just three games into the season. They improved their offensive line with the free agent acquisition of offensive guard Chris Lindstrom in hopes of better protecting King and added to an already good defensive line with the free agent signing of Greg O'Neal and the drafting of defensive end DaVonte Gates in the first round.

The Broncos have been a tough out for the Chargers recently but they do get A.J. Brown back into the mix and Will Castonzo has simply been one of the best quarterbacks in the league. Will that continue on the road, at night in front of a ruckus Denver crowd?

Chargers Blanket King, Broncos Offense For Three Quarters
In a match up between two of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the league, it was the defense that stole the show.

Until the A.J. Brown - D.K. Metcalf Show began in the fourth quarter with the former college teammates combining for three touchdowns in twelve minutes as the Chargers end up blowing out the Denver Broncos 35-3.

With almost more punts (5) than points (7) in the first half, the Chargers somehow never trailed the entire game as they were able to limit D'Eriq King's effectiveness with his legs by spying him while their top corners were able to blanket the outside receiver. King eventually got it going, exploiting some bad matchups on the inside for the defense as tight end Mike Selvie finished with 11 receptions for 103 yards.

King would throw for 342 but most of it came in the offensive filled fourth quarter.

Will Castonzo and the Chargers offense got it going when on third down, D.K. Metcalf took a simple slant route 72-yards as the Broncos had brought pressure and played cover zero. Denver responded with their best drive of the day, reaching the endzone for the first time but opted to take the points on fourth down.

On the ensuing drive, Los Angeles drove down the field in a similar fashion but instead ended it with a touchdown to Brown, his first as a Charger.

Following a Bronco punt, Brown found the endzone once more in more spectacular fashion as Castonzo escaped the pocket and threw the ball down the field to Brown who leaped over a defender, made another man miss and sprinted into the endzone.

The next Bronco drive ended in a punt being blocked by Samuel Fleming which was recovered in the endzone by Ashtyn Davis for a touchdown.

Defense came to play :obama:
The defense is even better than last season when it was a borderline elite unit. I still have questions about the rushing defense which is strange considering how many first round picks are on that front seven and DeAndre Bridge is a liability in coverage but been able to overcome those.

Hopefully, Kansas City is healthy in a few weeks because that'll the real test and then Watson the week after.
