Will Castonzo's dominance in his second year is reminiscent of another AFC West quarterback's ascension. Back in 2018, Patrick Mahomes jumped out onto the scene as football's best quarterback, throwing 50 touchdowns in his first of two MVP seasons. Mahomes would go on to land the league's biggest contract in history, which has yet to be surpassed, and bring a Super Bowl to Kansas City.
Somehow, that can be viewed as underachieving. Since their championship in 2019, Kansas City has failed to hoist the Lombardi Trophy since. Some attribute to key injuries while other blames Mahomes' massive cap hit number. Either way, many consider this Bill O'Brien's last chance at righting the ship.
Kansas City started the season undefeated before losing to Houston last week and don't get any breaks as they travel to Los Angeles to play against arguably the best team in football. Without Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill, Kansas City has relied on a more balanced offense as well as it's defense to help carry the load. The lack of elite talent in the secondary, however, could be concerning. Both Xavier Ringer (77 ovr, 85 spd) and Malik Hooker (73 ovr, 84 spd) are more hybrid, box safeties than your traditional rangy cover guys out there. Castonzo hasn't been shy about pushing the ball down the field, will they be able to hang on?

Castonzo Hurts Shoulder in Chargers Win Over Chiefs
Will Castonzo's 46-yard strike to A.J. Brown showed off his arm strength and deep ball accuracy. His seven-yard touchdown run in the third quarter showed off his athleticism.
His inability to go down and avoid a hit that injured his shoulder with less than a minute left in the fourth quarter showed perhaps the only weakness in his armor: his fragility.
Castonzo injured his throwing shoulder in the Chargers' 34-27 win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
Kansas City rallied in the fourth quarter, outscoring Los Angeles 14-3 to help make the score more respectable. It also forced the Chargers to try to run out the clock with 1:34 left in the game. After a 13-yard run to burn out their first timeout, Castonzo scrambled and gained fifteen yards but was popped on his way down. He grabbed his shoulder before jogging to the sidelines and did not return.
An aggravated Brian Flores did not comment on the extent of the injury but seemingly chastised his quarterback for not sliding.
"It was supposed to be a quick pass to Felix [Whittaker] out of the backfield," said Flores of the play-call, "[Castonzo] saw something and decided to keep it which is fine but at some point, he's got to slide. We've been talking about it since he was drafted last year and apparently we're not there yet with him."
Castonzo had thrown 232 yards in the first half to outbest Patrick Mahomes and his 196 yards. Mahomes would finish with 397 yards and three touchdowns but two interceptions while Casotnzo had 364 yards passing and two touchdowns. But it might be Chiefs fans that get the last laugh if Castonzo is out for a period of time and the team is forced to rely on Russell Wilson.

The Houston Texans just can't seem to catch any breaks. After starting the season with convincing victories over the Raiders and the Titans, Houston would undergo a three-game losing streak, all one possession games before their upset over the then undefeated Kansas City Chiefs. On the national stage with a chance to overtake the division, Houston lost once more to Green Bay 31-10 in primetime.
They return to primetime once more and this time, they'll have to face the undefeated Chargers and an apparently healthy quarterback. Will Castonzo survived his injury scare on Sunday with his shoulder intact, not even appearing on the team's injury report all week. So instead of a Castonzo-less Chargers, the Texans face the league's top offense and arguably it's best quarterback.
It'll be a reunion on Sunday night as Justin Jefferson will line up against his former team. Jefferson was traded by the Chargers this past off-season and is on pace to have one of his better seasons as a pro. He'll face a tough Chargers secondary that is looking to have a bounce back game after Kansas City was able to exploit some potential weakness in an otherwise elite unit that is ranked first in scoring and rushing defense, fourth in total defense and 8th in pass defense.

Watson Gets Last Laugh in Duel with Chargers, Castonzo
A roughing the kicker called on Samuel Fleming flipped the game on it's head, leading to a touchdown drive and back-to-back interceptions from Will Castonzo that found the Chargers trailing Houston 28-10 only for the second half opening kickoff to be fumbled and recovered for a touchdown.
A game that was at one point a 28-point lead for Houston would turn into an all-time Monday night classic with Houston somehow being the comeback story in their 42-39 win over the Chargers.
Los Angeles would score twice before the end of the third quarter, thanks to a Deshaun Watson interception to make it 35-24 entering the fourth quarter. On the first play of the fourth quarter, Castonzo found Odell Beckham for a gain of 30 and six plays later, kept it himself for the nine-yard touchdown run and the two point conversion to D.K. Metcalf to make it a three point game with 11:45 left in the game.
Deshaun Watson and the Texans offense managed to get the ball to their 45-yard line but on third and six, DeAndre Bridge came through on an attempted screen pass and sacked Watson to force the punt. Both teams swapped punts before Los Angeles got the ball with 5:12 left in the game.
They would convert a fourth-and-one and another third-and-one on the drive to keep it alive. Following the second conversion, the Chargers hurried to the line of scrimmage and Castonzo buried the ball in Teryan Vanover's stomach before pulling it out and going deep to Beckham for the 28-yard contested catch and touchdown to take the lead with 56 seconds left in the game.
Watson and the Texans, however, refused to quietly go into the night and surrender one of the largest comebacks in Monday Night Football history. He found Michael Pittman Jr for a 53-yard gain on what appeared to be a busted coverage. He sacked on the next play, burning their second timeout. On second down, however, Dalman got behind Jalen Ramsey, who hadn't surrendered a catch all game for the 27-yard pickup before being stopped at the goal-line. With 17 seconds left in the game, Houston burned their last timeout.
Ramsey would be targeted once more, this time on a stop route by Christian Bradshaw for the eventual game winning touchdown. It was Watson's fourth touchdown of the day, matching Castonzo's total.
Castonzo also threw for a career high 506 yards as the team was forced to abandon the running game due to both the flow of the game and also injuries to Felix Whitaker and Derrick Henry. Fullback Eric Harper was also injured, who started filling in at running back as a blocker on passing downs due to the offensive line's struggles.
