It's still early season, but the start by Ajax has simply been sensational. And if one thought the 5-1 home win against NEC, or the 4-1 away win at Twente were brilliant, here was the team of Daniel Marzec shifting up another gear: club Fortuna from the city of Sittard were demolished in the Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam: 8-1! By halftime, the score board already read 4-0. It was the night of Maher Carrizo, with the Argentinean winger producing half of the tally scored by Ajax.


Pundits lauded the Ajax metamorphosis: "Initially, it would seem Daniel Marzec has brought Ajax back in a position where Director Jordi Cruijff wants them to be. I have to agree with Dries Valentijn. A great start but against competition we expect to beat. Let’s see how you do against better sides before such bold claims as the pundits are throwing out.
