2030 Season Recap
I've been so excited playing this current season that I didn't have much time putting together weekly series wrap up reports so let me bring everyone up to speed. After a fast start in the first month where Arizona had a league best 20-8 record, ended up going through a brief losing streak which saw the Dodgers overtake first place in the division and leave the Diamondbacks battling with the San DIego Padres for second place and a wild card post season berth. Following the All-Star break Arizona was playing good baseball and gained some momentum and pulled away from the Padres in the standings and claimed the top wild card spot for the playoffs. The Diamondbacks finished with a 98-64 record. It was the 2nd time in 5 seasons that they won 95 games or more and for the 5th straight season improved in total wins for the season. Paul Skenes won the 2030 Cy Young Award. All five starters in the rotation won 10 games or more during the season and A.J. Puk split the closer role with Justin Martinez (one of the D-Backs highest minor league prospects). I will provide full game by game recaps of the 2030 MLB playoffs coming up next.

In one of the most exciting and intense games of the season, the Cubs and Diamondbacks battled in a win or go home Game 3 of the National League Wild Card series with the winner moving on to face the Los Angeles Dodgers. Arizona had a 2-1 lead headed into the 9th inning and the Chicago Cubs were able to come up with the game tying run forcing extra innings. The Cubs were unable to score in the top of the 10th and leading off for the D-Backs was Geraldo Perdomo, who got a leadoff single with a base hit to left field. Jordan Lawler was sent in the game to pinch run for Perdomo and after stealing 2nd, the D-Backs had the winning run in scoring position with no outs. Ketel Marte was unable to advance the runner, popping up in the infield. With one out and the winning run on 2nd, Corbin Carroll came up to the plate with a 2-1 count. Carroll hit the game winning single, scoring Jordan Lawler as the D-Backs advanced to the National League Division Series with a 3-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs.
