NOTES & QUOTES

Heat Starting Five: Tony Parker, Antonio Snow, Josh Richardson, Carmelo Anthony, Hassan Whiteside

Summary: Indiana came out swinging tonight. They were playing like a team on the verge of losing the series, and it’s true they were. Miami struggled to hit shots early. Antonio Snow only had 3 points in the first quarter as Indiana took a double-digit lead going into the second quarter.

Carmelo Anthony got off to a slow start as well, but fortunately for the Heat, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist put up solid numbers. MKG finished with 10 points and snagged 6 rebounds.

The Pacers stayed hot early in the third quarter, but the Heat managed to catch fire as well. Snow scored 8 unanswered points to start shifting the momentum as the Heat went on a run late in the third quarter to take a 74-69 lead.

Back to back threes by Anthony started to break down Indiana’s defense as Miami picked up their fourth straight win and closed out the series on the road.

Key Stats for MIA: 45/89 (51%) - FG|7/13 (54%) – 3PT |5/8 (63%) - FT |35 – Fastbreak Points|48 – 2nd Chance Points|34 – Bench Points|31 – Assists| 46 – Rebounds| 9 - Steals
Key Stats for IND: 36/73 (49%) - FG|6/20 (30%) – 3PT |9/12 (75%) - FT |11– Fastbreak Points|6 – 2nd Chance Points|28 – Bench Points|28 – Assists| 37 – Rebounds| 4 - Steals

Carmelo Anthony on the Heat defense: We are a defensive minded team. The offense comes easy because our defense is tough. We’re always getting after it. It showed in this series.

Antonio Snow on the no call in third quarter: Hey, I know I’m not LeBron. It’s the playoffs, you know? Let the guys play. It’s all good.

Erik Spoelstra on the Heat picking up the sweep: We can get some rest. These guys deserved it. They executed the game plan from start to finish.

NOTES & QUOTES

Heat Starting Five: Tony Parker, Antonio Snow, Josh Richardson, Carmelo Anthony, Hassan Whiteside

Summary: The Boston Celtics came out of a battle with the Toronto Raptors, but they didn’t show it in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Kyrie Irving brought the energy, scoring 9 of Boston’s first 13 points. Boston was running circles around Miami early, scoring 34 points in the first quarter before shooting a single free throw.

Hassan Whiteside struggled early, going only 1 of 6 from the field in the first quarter. Kyrie Irving had 23 points in the first quarter wand showing no signs of slowing down. Boston had a 14 point lead at halftime and were looking to put this game away.

The second half belong to the Heat. Miami came out on fire, taking their first lead of the game late in the third quarter off a pair of Josh Richardson free throws. Richardson held things together for the Heat, scoring 12 points in the third quarter, alongside Antonio Snow’s 13 points. The team really came together as Hassan Whiteside scored 12 points in the fourth quarter.

Key Stats for BOS: 37/97 (40%) - FG|10/24 (42%) – 3PT |14 – Fastbreak Points|42 – Points in Paint|0 – Second Chance Points|20 – Assists|29 – Rebounds
Key Stats for MIA: 45/74 (61%) - FG|4/9 (44%) – 3PT |23 – Fastbreak Points|60 – Points in Paint|12 – Second Chance Points|29 – Assists|39 – Rebounds

Antonio Snow on Kyrie’s scoring outburst: He just couldn’t miss in the first quarter. I think he was defended well, but he got off some difficult shots. But I didn’t let it get the best of me. I was able to lock him up and limit him to 10 points over the last three quarters.

Brad Stevens on Celtics blowing lead: Tough loss for us. The goal coming into this series was to split to the first two games on the road. Winning Game 1 would have been great, but Miami is a team you can’t let up on. They’ve shown that all season.
