Returning home following a three-game road trip where they went undefeated, the Lakers took the court without LeBron James for the third time this season. Taking on the Portland Trail Blazers, who in the past have had success at Crypto.com Arena, more than most opponents and on Friday night the Trail Blazers took advantage of a Jamesless Lakers team. Deandre Ayton took the lead for the Blazers, finishing with 30 points, 13 rebounds and two blocks while Malcolm Brogdon put up 19 points and nine assists and Shaedeon Sharpe added 18 points, hitting 7-of-10 from the floor in a 112-108 win over the Lakers, ending the Lakers season-high five game winning streak. Anthony Davis led the Lakers with 24 points, seven rebounds, four assists and five blocks and Austin Reaves finished with 18 points, three rebounds and four assists. The Blazers relied on the post play of Ayton and outscored the Lakers in the paint, 50-36. Portland defeated the Lakers in LA last year in the teams final game of their season series. The Lakers will have little time to dwell on the loss as they return to the court tomorrow night against the New Orleans Pelicans.
