The Los Angeles Lakers returned home from a seven-game road trip to host the Cleveland Cavaliers. Already halfway through the season, the Lakers came into the game tonight in the 10th seed of the Western Conference. The Lakers had several chances to take control of the game, but they fell short as Cleveland managed to come away with a 113-104 victory. Darius Garland led the Cavaliers with 25 points, five rebounds, six assists and one steal. Donovan Mitchell finished with 19 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Evan Mobley was dominating in the post scoring 14 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. LeBron James led the Lakers with 32 points, seven rebounds, three assists, one steal and three blocks. Trae Young scored 30 points, grabbed two rebounds and dished out two assists. Anthony Davis was the workhorse tonight with 17 points, 17 rebounds, eight assists, two steals and two blocks. The loss now put the Lakers at 24-27 still tenth in the West.

Another fourth quarter letdown leads to a loss against Minnesota

As the All-Star break approaches, Lakers continue to hit and miss

After a seven-game road trip, the Lakers returned home and had no idea after a two-game set, that they would be further back. The Lakers continue to squander opportunities to gain ground on the teams in front of them, by not executing down the stretch, careless ball handling and not being able to box out in crucial times. All three of those flaws showed themselves against the Minnesota Timberwolves and led to a 102-86 loss. Anthony Edwards led the Wolves with 35 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and four steals. Rudy Gobert finished with 16 points, seven rebounds, two assists and five blocks, while hitting 8-of-9 shots from the field. Karl-Anthony Towns had 15 points and 11 rebounds with five assists and one block. Anthony Davis led the Lakers with 25 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, one steal and two blocks. LeBron James put up 24 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, one steal and two blocks and Trae Young added 13 points, six rebounds and seven assists. The Lakers now sit at 24-28 and eleven games back of the top spot. With thirty games left in the season the Lakers will have to decide if they are going to be pull it together or watch it fall apart.

Lakers lose third straight game as Kings offense has its way

It would seem that the Lakers season is not only in turmoil, but it's on the brink of nose diving. After the Lakers 130-118 loss to Sacramento tonight, LeBron James made it known that his body is sore and hinted that he might be sidelined for the foreseeable future. That isn't the kind of news Laker fans want to hear, considering this was their third loss in a row and now at 24-29 they are in danger of being leaped over and missing the play-in tournament all together. The Kings offense tonight was able to get whatever they wanted with little resistance from the Lakers defense. It started early on in the game and was noticeable when the Kings put up 37 points in the first quarter and then 38 in the fourth. The Kings led by as many as 20 points tonight. De'Aaron Fox led the Kings with 33 points, hitting 15-of-24 shots from the field, grabbing six rebounds and dishing out 12 assists. Domantas Sabonis recorded 27 points on 13-of-17 shooting and pulled down nine rebounds. Rookie Devin Carter in only 15 minutes scored 17 points, hitting 6-of-8 shots and Keegan Murray had 15 points, all of his points came off his 5-of-9 shooting from the three-point line. Seven Kings players in total scored in double figures. Trae Young led the Lakers in scoring with 32 points, along with three rebounds, nine assists and two steals. LeBron James had 26 points, three rebounds, five assists and one block. Anthony Davis played 40 minutes tonight and finished with 11 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, one steal and two blocks. The Lakers will wrap up their schedule before the All-Star break with a back-to-back home set against the Clippers and Bulls.
