‣ 2029 ACC Championship Game - Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, North Carolina
(9-4, 6-3 ACC) #9 Southern Methodist Mustangs at #1 Miami Hurricanes (13-0, 9-0 ACC)
SMU | 7 | 10 | 0 | 0 | 17
MIA | 10 | 14 | 14 | 7 | 45
Davon Momah, Deron Tryon make strong Heisman bids as Canes win the ACC
After Davon Momah's third touchdown of the night, he broke out the Heisman pose with the Miami senior receiver being one of the front runners for the award. Charlotte native and teammate Deron Tryon was not going to be outdone in his hometown, breaking off a 77-yard run and hitting the same pose as the Hurricanes routed SMU 45-17 to win the ACC Championship on Saturday.
"I feel like this year's Heisman is a Hurricane," said Tryon when asked about his decision to hit the pose, "If it's not me, it better be Davon and vice versa. I feel like Keke [Hagg] would be in the race too if he didn't get hurt so what we've done this year was special so I wanted to immortalize that."
Tryon finished with 171 yards on twenty five carries with the bulk of his action coming in the first half, carrying the ball twenty times. SMU kept it competitive at the half, trailing 24-17, but it was all Miami in the second half with the Hurricanes facing little resistance on their first drive of the second half, setting up Momah's third touchdown of the night on a touch pass.
SMU's Kane Childs would be intercepted on the Miami 36-yard line on the ensuing possession and after a dazzling 42-yard completion to Juan Woodside, Bernie Flowers found a wide open David Tompkins to end SMU's dreams of an upset.
The Mustangs still have an outside shot of making the playoffs if they don't fall to far in the rankings but with it being their fourth loss of the year, it's not looking bright for SMU who came into the game ranked ninth in the CFP rankings.

‣ 2030 CFP Quarterfinal at the Orange Bowl - Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, Florida
(10-4, 7-2 Big XII) #9 Utah Utes at #1 Miami Hurricanes (13-0, 9-0 ACC)
UTAH | 0 | 10 | 0 | 21 | 3 | 34
MIA | 7 | 14 | 10 | 0 | 6 | 37
Hurricanes survive near disaster against Utes, outlast Utah in overtime to advance to CFP Semifinals
An Heisman Award winning wide receiver. An explosive offense capable of scoring fifty points on any given moment. But when it mattered the most, Mario Cristobal built the Miami Hurricanes program in his image and relied on the Hurricanes offensive line to take them to the promise land. The Hurricanes ran the ball on seven consecutive plays in overtime to beat Utah 37-34 to advance to the College Football Semifinals for the third consecutive season.
Utah had a chance to pull off the upset and 21-point comeback but ran out of gas in overtime, getting the ball first and running three straight plays before kicking a field goal on fourth and one. When tasked with a similar fourth and one, the Canes decided to go for it with Kaseem Dalton picking up the yard. Dalton would go on to score the game winning touchdown on third and goal from the one-yard line.
Miami seemed to have the game sowed up when it intercepted Utah quarterback Jaylen Littlejohn and Manuel Arcuri returned it for a touchdown to make it 31-10 in the third quarter. Littlejohn was hurt in the process after being blocked by Miami redshirt freshman phenom Nick Kahn, knocking him out of the game.
Even after Moses Landers, Littlejohn's replacement, threw a 41-yard completion to Ruben Willett to set up Malcolm Waddle's touchdown in the fourth quarter, things still looked bleak for the Utes, needing two more touchdowns in less than ten minutes and also needing to stop Miami's offense.
The defense would provide just that, intercepting Bernie Flowers with 6:33 remaining on third and five to set up Gage McDuffie's touchdown catch from Landers with three minutes remaining to make it a one possession game. The Hurricanes were still in good position to rely on their All-American running backs to get the job done but on third and one, Aidan Teague would be stopped behind the line of scrimmage, forcing Miami to punt the ball.
Landers faced little to no resistance, completing passes of 24, 12 and 20 to get the ball to the Miami fourteen yard line with 1:22 left when George Burt swerved, bent the corner and found paydirt for the game tying touchdown.
