‣ CFB 2030 Regular Season, Week 14 - Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, Florida
(7-5, 6-4 SEC) Tennessee Volunteers at #6 Miami Hurricanes (11-1, 9-1 SEC)
TENN | 10 | 0 | 10 | 0 | 20
MIA | 14 | 10 | 17 | 7 | 48
No. 6 Miami bounces back from loss at Texas A&M, advances to SEC Championship Game
It took the Miami Hurricanes thirteen years to make it to their first ACC Championship Game since joining the conference in 2004. It took them just one season in the SEC to make it to Atlanta, beating the Tennessee Volunteers 48-20 to clinch a spot in the SEC Championship Game and have likely punched their ticket into the playoffs.
The Hurricanes showed no signs of a hangover from last week's loss to Texas A&M, which ended a winning streak that spanned through three seasons. They were lively in the first quarter, countering the Volunteers early scores with touchdowns of their own and then pulled away in the second quarter and beyond, aided by three long touchdowns from Max North.
On the first, the six-foot-six receiver got behind Tennessee's defense for an easy 40-yard score and then in the third quarter, he caught a simple spot route and took it 52-yards for the touchdown. In what would turn out to be his final play of the day -- and potentially his final play as a Miami Hurricane in Hard Rock Stadium -- the junior receiver once again beat his man clean off the line of scrimmage for a seventy-six yard touchdown. It would prove to be Bernie Flowers' final play of the game as well, who sat in the fourth quarter.
Flowers threw for a career high 416 yards and four touchdowns, all to North who finished with 227 yards receiving, a school record for most receiving yards in a game. Flowers was replaced by true freshman Terrance Harris who threw an interception on his second attempt of the game but the Hurricanes defense were able to force a turnover on downs on the ensuing possession.
