yeah, when I was filling out the lineup I was like - we're not that far off...then you keep going down the lineup and as I trickle down to mid 70s they have no skips lmao. Max Muncy is the only dude below an 80

that makes one of us

Kirby, Not Crochet, Set To Start Game One For Boston

Los Angeles, CA. - The 2025 World Series opens later this afternoon, but the fatigue divide between the two finalists is already stark. While the Boston Red Sox needed every ounce of resolve, and seven games, to survive Seattle, the Los Angeles Dodgers coasted through a gentleman’s sweep of the Cubs. The result? L.A. enters the Fall Classic with a full week of rest, every arm refreshed and every option available.
Boston looks nothing like that. The Red Sox are running on fumes, especially atop their rotation. Garrett Crochet, the AL MVP and Cy Young winner, pitched twice on short rest against the Mariners, including five scoreless innings in a heroic Game 7. With only two days between that effort and tonight’s opener, manager Alex Cora was blunt about the temptation to ride his ace again.
“There’s gutsy, and then there’s stupid,” Cora said. “That would be stupid.”
Instead, Boston will turn to George Kirby, fully rested after starting Game 5 of the ALCS. Brayan Bello and Crochet will follow in order.
“This way, all of our guys get their first World Series start on full rest,” Cora said. “And it lines Garrett up for a potential Game 7.”
The question is whether Boston can survive long enough to get there. If fatigue keeps creeping in, this series may never make it back to Los Angeles for its later games. And against one of baseball’s most explosive offenses, every inning, every out, becomes a stress test.
The Dodgers have scored fewer than four runs only twice this postseason and averaged five per game in the NLDS. Boston, meanwhile, has topped four runs just twice in the same span, one of those coming in the wild 10–9 loss to Seattle.
“Slugfests aren’t their lane right now,” said MLB Network analyst Pedro Martínez. “They’ve got to smother the Dodgers’ offense and get just enough timely hitting. If games turn into track meets, I don’t think this lineup can outslug L.A.”
With Game 1 set for tonight, all eyes turn to Kirby. If he stumbles out of the gate, the final chapter of Boston’s storybook season might start writing itself early.

Los Angeles, CA. - The Boston Red Sox didn’t just steal Game 1 of the World Series, they stole it literally. Powered by a World Series record five steals from Jarren Duran, a team total of seven swipes, and six scoreless innings from George Kirby, Boston edged the Dodgers 5–4 at Dodger Stadium to take a surprising 1–0 series lead.
And even with all that, the Red Sox still needed a ninth inning go-ahead single from Rafael Devers to give Aroldis Chapman the chance to slam the door.
“This is a great win for the Red Sox,” John Smoltz said on the FOX broadcast. “But you needed everything to go right, seven steals, Kirby perfect through five, Devers delivering late; just to win by one after the Dodgers hit a pair of homers. You’re not going to get that many steals again. Great win, but it’s concerning how close L.A. came anyway.”
Boston’s bullpen issues, a problem that surfaced throughout the ALCS, followed them into the Fall Classic. After Kirby blanked the Dodgers through six, working around a walk and single in the sixth after retiring the first 15 he faced, the relief corps cracked again. Garrett Whitlock surrendered a two run homer in the seventh, then Justin Slaten followed suit in the eighth as LA tied the game.
But Duran sparked the ninth with yet another single and another steal, setting up Devers for the decisive RBI knock.
“I wasn’t even keeping track,” Duran laughed afterward. “Just get on base, take the next bag, and try to score. That’s it.”
Shohei Ohtani, meanwhile, looked unexpectedly mortal in his first World Series pitching appearance since exclusively DH’ing during the Dodgers’ 2024 title run. Boston tagged him for four hits and three runs, and ran almost freely on Ohtani and typically reliable catcher Will Smith. At the plate, Ohtani struck out four times, including a big whiff in the eighth after Freddie Freeman had already taken Slaten deep.
Game 2 is set for Saturday night with Brayan Bello facing Yoshinobu Yamamoto as Boston looks to head home with a 2–0 lead.

Devers came up clutch with a missle to right field to score Duran as Boston pulled ahead in the 9th.

Freddie Freeman did his best Kirk Gibson impression with a 2 run blast to right field to pull the Dodgers even with Boston in the 8th.

Chapman was fired up after striking out Teoscar Hernandez to end Game 1.

Los Angeles, CA. - Los Angeles answered Boston’s Game 1 punch with a counter of its own, riding a four-run fourth inning to a 5–4 win in Game 2 of the World Series, just enough to hold off another gritty Red Sox rally.
Jarren Duran kept his blistering postseason run alive, singling and stealing a base before rookie Roman Anthony doubled him home to open the scoring. In the third, Duran added an RBI single, cashing in a rare Ceddanne Rafaela triple, as Boston briefly looked poised to scrap its way to another upset win.
But the Dodgers’ lineup finally flexed.
Tommy Edman sparked the fourth by drawing a walk off Brayan Bello, then swiping second in a near carbon copy of Duran’s Game 1 disruption. James Outman followed with a ground ball single up the middle to score Edman, and one pitch later Max Muncy launched a high fastball into the right field seats to put L.A. ahead. Shohei Ohtani, hitless in the series until then, added an RBI single to cap the four run frame.
Edman struck again in the fifth, doubling home another run off Hunter Dobbins, a key insurance tally that ultimately proved the difference.
Anthony continued his breakout on the sport’s biggest stage, smashing a solo homer in the sixth and later adding his third hit of the night with an eighth inning single to bring Boston within one. But with the tying run on and momentum finally tilting, Rafael Devers bounced into a 3–6–3 double play that ended the threat.
Blake Treinen handled the ninth with ease, striking out two before inducing a soft popup to even the series at 1–1.
With the World Series shifting to Boston, the Red Sox will hand the ball to AL MVP and Cy Young winner Garrett Crochet for Game 3. The Dodgers counter with left-hander Blake Snell as both teams look to seize control of the series.

Roman Anthony continues to shine under the bright lights with 3 RBIs.

Yamamoto struck out 9 Sox batters over 5 innings to give the Dodgers enough length to reach the bullpen and Blake Treinen.

Duran continues to be a sparkplug at the top of the Sox lineup with 3 more steals, breaking Lou Brock's record of 7 in just two games.
