Darius Taylor oh my god

gotta get this lick back against Ohio State at this point to keep the season alive. Playoffs are out of the question if ya'll fall

but even if you don't get the dub - helluva first season. Interesting to see who you get at DC. I've always seemed to find a few RL guys in the carousel so hopefully you've got some good options

This was the first time I have ever purposely kept feeding him just for yards. I wanted the record and to be the leading rusher in the nation.

You’re right, losing to OhioSt does not diminish this season at all. I was hoping for 7 wins, we exceed that on more ways than one.

For the DC, I need someone who can develop players. We have a lot of young guys that need to improve.

His risk of transfer is high. Hopefully he stays for his senior season.

OOF. Just a two point away from forcing overtime. Great way to cap the regular season and bodes well going into Y2.

Darius Taylor named Doak Walker award winner and 4th in the Heisman voting after record setting seasons
Gopher Observer| Dec 21, 2025

Darius Taylor breaks free for a 45-yard run on the first play in the Big Ten Championship game

Darius Taylor continues to win accolades off the field for his record setting season. The Junior running back finished fourth in the Heisman voting, fourth in the Maxwell voting, fourth in the Walter Camp award, and first in the Doak Walker award.

"It is an honor to be recognized. Credit goes to my teammates, the O-line of course and to the coaching staff for feeding me. The season was better than expected but also did not finish how we wanted it to. We have a chance to finish with a bowl win and that is my focus right now."

There is concern with the Gophers that this might be Taylor's last game with the school. The threat of a transfer to a bigger school or even the NFL is looming with Taylor yet to make a decision on his future. "We have not talked with him yet." Mick Smith said. "The focus is on our bowl game with Georgia coming up, after that we will sit down with players that might leave and discuss what the options are. We hope Taylor comes back but in today's game, money talks. We will help him make the best choice for his career and his family."

Two other Gophers finished in the top ten of award voting, Koi Perich and John Nestor finished 3rd and 5th in the Paycom Jim Thorpe award voting for best defensive back.
