USF POSTGAME REPORT
USF 49 – FLORIDA ATLANTIC 20

Offense
-USF delivered another explosive outing, piling up 514 yards of offense and overwhelming FAU with balance, tempo, and efficiency. Quarterback Locklan Hewlett played one of the sharpest games of his career, going 21-of-25 for 285 yards and three touchdowns before a lower-leg injury limited him in the second half.
-The Bulls’ run game again proved to be the difference. Connor Suggs and Steven Snead sparked the offense early with chunk gains, while Nicholas Daniel and George Shembo chipped in critical red-zone production. Six different backs logged carries, and four scored touchdowns, including Elton York and Trey Chancellor on short-yardage finishes that broke FAU’s defensive spirit.
-Suggs finished with 75 yards on 10 carries, and Snead added 50 and a score. Daniel produced 47 yards on just seven attempts, showing the same acceleration and decisiveness he flashed last game. Shembo added a rushing touchdown to pair with his receiving score.
-The passing attack revolved around Tyler Williams, who delivered a dominant 138-yard, two-touchdown performance, consistently winning in space and punishing FAU’s soft zone coverage. Daidren Zipperer added 60 yards, while Jordyn Bridgewater and Snead provided timely chain-moving plays.
-From top to bottom, it was one of USF’s cleanest offensive efforts of the year—disciplined, explosive, and ruthlessly efficient in scoring situations.
Defense
-USF’s defense set the tone early and never lost control. The Bulls held FAU to 66 rushing yards on 20 attempts and forced quarterback Emory Williams into uncomfortable passing windows all afternoon. Williams finished 16-of-29 with 206 yards and a costly interception, an athletic, instinctive return from Izaiah Guy off a tipped pass.
-Guy led the defense with 10 tackles and the interception, while Cedrick Hawkins and Eric Rance added steady production. The tackling was spotty at times, with FAU being credited with five broken tackles. Overall the defense looked disciplined, pursuit angles were far sharper than recent weeks, and the pass rush generated consistent heat even without recording gaudy sack totals.
-FAU hit occasional intermediate throws, but USF’s coverage structure prevented explosive plays and kept the Owls behind the sticks for much of the second half. Tony White’s unit continues trending upward at the right time of the season.
Special Teams
-Nico Gramatica went a perfect 7-for-7 on extra points, while Elton York and David Igbinoghene combined for secure, efficient return work. York also added a 10-yard punt return that helped flip field position in the second quarter. FAU’s return game was neutralized throughout the afternoon.
-With no punts required, USF’s offense kept special teams largely on standby, but the phase remained clean, disciplined, and turnover-free.
Quotables
“Execution. That’s what this was. We set the tone early and kept our foot on the gas.” – DJ Porter, USF Head Coach
“I Guy's interception changed everything. Our energy on defense was different after that.” – Cedrick Hawkins, Safety
“Our rhythm felt great. The guys up front gave me time, and our receivers made plays all day.” – Locklan Hewlett, Quarterback
Injury Notes
-Quarterback Locklan Hewlett exited after the third quarter after appearing to favor his right leg, an issue that seemed to affect his mobility and base on several throws. He did not return in the fourth quarter, but QB coach Pat Devlin indicated postgame that Hewlett could have re-entered if the game situation required it.
-No other new injuries were reported. The Bulls will continue to monitor Hewlett’s status throughout the week, but early indications suggest the issue is not expected to linger.
-Center Teriyan Morman remains out for the season with a foot fracture.
