Kamario Taylor throws a pass in the win against Troy

When all seems to be finally coming together for the Mississippi State Bulldogs all of a sudden the wheels fall off again. The university announced today that starting quarterback Kamario Taylor will be suspended for the season following academic ineligibility. This suspension goes into effect immediately and will cause a dramatic shift in the trajectory of the Bulldogs season.

Taylor, a sophomore from Macon, Mississippi, took over the starting role from Blake Shapen last season and had a mediocre season throwing for 815 yards with 4 touchdowns and 8 interceptions. However, this season has seen an improvement in his play in all aspects of the game, despite the interception numbers going up.

Now the offense will pivot to a fellow sophomore, Luke Kromenhoek. Kromenhoek spent his first season at Florida State before transferring to Mississippi State. He got some playing time late last season when Kamario Taylor was struggling down the stretch and threw for 174 yards, 2 TD, and 3 INTs on 41 attempts. Kromenhoek is a similar build to Taylor but maybe a step slower, so he will slot in perfectly into the offense but it is yet to be seen if he will be able to lead the offense to the same success that Taylor was finding so far this season.
