meant more last year with the duel between Allar and AR. With Allar out, it ain't been pretty
AR don't need to go for 300 when our defense gives him the ball at the 50 each driveShireNiner wrote: ↑31 Dec 2025, 14:33Riley Leonard is going to be embarrassed. AR is going for 300+, and the defense is going to have a day on this QB.

Steelers Dominate Hapless Colts In Bounce Back Victory

Indianapolis, IN. - With second-year QB Drew Allar still nursing an injured foot, no one expected Indianapolis to turn around a disappointing 1-7 campaign against the defending Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers, especially coming off a frustrating loss to rival Baltimore.
However, with just three minutes left in the second quarter, the score was tied at 7-7 after Michael Pittman took a backwards lateral 38 yards to the house, a score that was technically a rushing touchdown. To that point, Pittsburgh and Indianapolis had both only had two possessions each, with each squad content to control the ball.
But with three minutes left, the Steelers finally got in gear, with Richardson finding Pat Freiermuth for a 1-yard score at the break to take a 14-7 lead into halftime. Still, only trailing by a touchdown at the half without their star QB, the Colts fans at Lucas Oil Stadium had hope.
A quick three-and-out to open the second half killed the momentum, and if that wasn't enough, rookie sensation Ryan Williams shredded any remaining hope with a 77-yard punt return, leaving multiple Colts defenders grasping at air in the process.
It was the explosion the Steelers needed, as they exploded for 35 second-half points behind a dominant defensive effort that collected six sacks in total and consecutive strip sacks in the fourth quarter that directly led to Quinshon Judkins' pair of late touchdowns.
A 76-yard screen pass to Jayden Ott softened the blow and boosted Riley Leonard's anemic passing numbers, as he finished with 166 passing yards while completing eight of his twenty passes, but was also sacked six times and fumbled twice.
For Richardson, it marks the second straight season he's defeated his former club, and while the numbers weren't eye-popping—223 passing yards, 26 rushing, three touchdowns—he emphasized the final result was all that matters.
"We need a win to get back on track, simple as that. Stats are great, wins are better."
Pittsburgh will now head to Arrowhead Stadium for a rematch of last year's AFC Championship Game with the Kansas City Chiefs.

KC gonna be a big matchup

looking at it the offense wasn't rolling, but in reality both offenses were milking the clock with long drives. We each had three drives in the 1st half. Judkins score in the 1st Q was the opening drive of the game, we killed nearly 7 minutesShireNiner wrote: ↑03 Jan 2026, 09:59Special teams coming up big until the offense woke up. Steelers Face Crucial Showdown In AFC Championship Rematch With Chiefs

Kansas City, MO. - A lot has changed since the last time the Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers faced off in the 2026 AFC Championship Game.
Most importantly, the Steelers are now the reigning Super Bowl champions after surviving a frantic fourth-quarter comeback attempt by the Chiefs in that title game, then dismantling the Green Bay Packers two weeks later in the Super Bowl.
But as the teams prepare to meet again Monday night at Arrowhead Stadium, the stakes remain just as high, and the Chiefs remain just as dangerous.
These Chiefs are different, yet somehow the same. Travis Kelce retired after last season, but Kansas City quickly found a replacement in former LSU tight end Trey'Dez Green, who has quietly amassed 30 receptions for 291 yards in his rookie campaign. Even with Rashee Rice sidelined for the rematch, third-year receiver Jalen Royals has surged onto the scene, and Xavier Worthy remains as dangerous as ever.
And, of course, Patrick Mahomes is still Patrick Mahomes.
The difference this season is how Kansas City is winning. The Chiefs haven't been dominating with offensive firepower as in years past, ranking 16th in scoring and 15th in total offense. Instead, they're winning with a defense ranked fourth in points allowed and ninth against the run, a formula that's carried them to a 7-2 record.
"We've done a great job of controlling the game from a defensive standpoint, then letting Pat go to work when we need it the most," longtime head coach Andy Reid said. "You'd like to get the offense going sooner, not wait until the last minute, but we've got a winning formula and you can't complain about that."
That formula was on full display last week when Mahomes orchestrated yet another fourth-quarter comeback against Baltimore, throwing two touchdown passes to stun the Ravens and position Kansas City squarely in the playoff race.
The Steelers may enter the matchup as the reigning Super Bowl champions with a superior 7-1 record compared to Kansas City's 7-2 mark, but that doesn't make Sunday's game any less meaningful.
With their victory over Baltimore, the Chiefs put themselves in position to control homefield advantage throughout the AFC playoffs, but only if they can knock off Pittsburgh for the second consecutive regular season showdown.
"A win against Pittsburgh will give the Chiefs victories against both AFC North heavyweights and could potentially put them on a path to control homefield," Pat McAfee said on his radio show this week. "We all remember how the Chiefs stunned the Steelers in Acrisure last year to put the pressure on Pittsburgh for the No. 1 seed. They'll be looking to do the same again this weekend."
To their credit, the Steelers aren't looking ahead to playoff implications or dwelling on last season's 4th quarter comeback finish.
"We want to get a win, because it's next in line," Mike Tomlin said when asked about the weight of the matchup. "Kansas City is a team that is in the thick of it every year. Testing our mettle against them is a great measuring stick. But I'm not going to sit here and get caught up in what-if scenarios for the end of the season based off one game.
"We take care of business and win, the rest takes care of itself."
It's vintage Tomlin — focused on the task at hand rather than the broader implications. But make no mistake: both teams understand what's at stake Sunday.
A Pittsburgh win would establish the Steelers as the clear favorite for the AFC's top seed and send a message that last season's championship was no fluke. A Kansas City victory would announce that the Chiefs remain the standard in the conference, regardless of who hoists the trophy in February.
The rematch everyone wanted is finally here. And this time, it counts toward something both teams desperately want: homefield advantage when it matters most.
Kickoff is set for 4:25 p.m. ET at Arrowhead Stadium.
