Bet not lose to another good team or we’re gonna have to start asking some uncomfortable questions about this team.

Kansas City, MO. - The Pittsburgh Steelers heard the talk all week. They got lucky last year. They didn't really win the AFC Championship Game, Kansas City just ran out of time.

Monday night at Arrowhead Stadium, under the bright lights of national television, the Steelers delivered their response.

"We heard the talk all week, we got lucky last year. We didn't win, Kansas City just ran out of time," Mike Tomlin said emphatically after the game, visibly energized after watching his defense dominate Patrick Mahomes in a 42-10 dismantling. "But to be the best, you got to beat the best."

He paused, then added with a smile: "What's their excuse now?"

The Steelers operated like a team on a mission from the opening kickoff. Pittsburgh marched down the field on the game's first possession, consuming nearly six minutes of clock before Quinshon Judkins plunged in from a yard out for the early 7-0 lead.

Kansas City, by contrast, looked completely out of sync. Their first drive was disjointed at best, ending in a quick three-and-out after a Derrick Harmon sack, one of five on the afternoon for the resurgent "Blitzburgh" defense.

The Steelers marched right back down the field, taking whatever they wanted from the NFL's fifth-ranked defense. Anthony Richardson found Ryan Williams slashing open on a crossing route for the rookie's ninth touchdown of the season, extending the lead to 14-0.

Then the Chiefs completely unraveled.

Patrick Mahomes threw an ugly interception to Joey Porter Jr., an overthrow that was nowhere near Xavier Worthy. On the very next drive, receiver Anthony Evans III finally sparked the Chiefs' offense with a 20-yard reception — then promptly fumbled after a hit from safety Ji'Ayir Brown.

The Steelers capitalized on both turnovers, converting them into touchdowns and starting a perfect 4-for-4 on their opening offensive possessions.

The Chiefs' defense eventually made an impact, forcing a red-zone interception when defensive lineman George Karlaftis dropped into coverage and picked off a Richardson screen pass. Later, they forced a Richardson fumble to give Mahomes another chance. But the magic never materialized.

By the end of the first half, Pittsburgh led 28-0, and the rout was on.

"We talked about it pregame, wanting to get off to faster starts," a dejected Andy Reid said after the game. "We didn't do that and against an offense as potent as theirs, you can't expect the defense to corral them for long."

Kansas City received the second-half kickoff trailing 28-0, offering one last chance at a miraculous comeback.

Instead, the Steelers delivered another knockout punch.

Rookie tight end Trey'Dez Green hauled in a 25-yard completion from Mahomes and, in an effort to gain more yardage, tried to hurdle Brown. The safety forced his second fumble of the game, and any hope of a Kansas City rally died on the spot.

On the ensuing drive, DK Metcalf hurdled cornerback Trent McDuffie for his second touchdown of the day, and the Steelers coasted to a 42-10 victory that wasn't even that close.

After the game, the Steelers' official X account posted a clip from "Black Panther" showing Killmonger standing over T'Challa, with Anthony Richardson's and Patrick Mahomes' faces superimposed over the actors. Killmonger's line echoed through the video: "This is your king?!"

The message was clear: The Steelers are on top, and they don't plan on relinquishing their crown anytime soon.
