"Everything Is Going To Be Okay."

Image

"All right. I'm going to take away your left hand & force you to use your right.." Tiny said as he defended his daughter, Autumn, on the court in their home.

Autumn is a freshman at Saint Mary's High School in Phoenix & is the starting point guard for the girl's varsity team. Saint Mary's season-opener is on Friday night, when the Phoenix Suns will be on the road to face the Sacramento Kings, forcing Tiny to miss her first game.

Image

Autumn dribbles to the right. Pulls up for the mid-range jumpshot with a hand in her face. Bang.

"There you go! Good shot.. Let's do it again. This time I want you to try to go left & score on me. If you can't, explode to your right & find your shot."

Tiny hands her the ball & settles down on defense. Anticipating his daughter will attack with her dominant hand, Autumn faked left & took off with the right, outsmarting her Dad for an open mid-range jumper.

Image

Nothing but net.

"Whoa! I wasn't expecting that one. Keep working on that right & they won't be able to stop you anywhere on the court. Come on, let's run it again."

Autumn started with the ball on the left side of the court & attempted to pull the same trick on her old man that she just did. As Tiny anticipated her first move, he stuck out his left hand & knocked the ball loose. He picked up the rock, cocked it back, & elevated for a monstrous two-handed slam.

Image

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!" he shouted in a gloat over his 14-year old daughter, swinging from the rim after a vicious throwdown.

"Ugh.. That is not fair, Dad!" she said as she stopped the ball from bouncing & walked towards the couch.

"I need a break.."

"We can take a quick rest. Are you ready for Friday night? First game of the season.." he asked as they both took a seat & drank from their bottles.

"I am.. But Dad, there's something I want to ask you, but I'm not sure how to.."

Image

"One of the girls at my school showed me the article about you.. you know.. from the New York Times.."

"Ahh... I see. The one where they compared me to OJ Simpson & Osama Bin Laden.. How did it make you feel?"

"Well.. I just.. I just don't understand. How could someone say those things about you?" she asked as her eyes began to water.

Image

"You're the best Dad anyone could ever want. You're seriously so nice to everybody! How could someone hate you that much?"

"Come here, girl." He said as he pulled his daughter into his arms.

"Some people just love to hate. This isn't the first time someone has tried to paint me as a villain, & it won't be the last time. It's all for attention. Don't buy into the storylines that they write about me or you or anybody. Just live your life as your authentic self & everything will work out in the end."

He continued to embrace her while she wept in his arms.

Image

"Don't worry my girl. Everything is going to be okay. I Promise. I love you."

"I love you too, Dad." she responded as she sniffed her nose.

"Come on now. Let's get back to it. You're a Jimenez & you know we don't let off of the gas pedal.. ever! I want to see you get as good with your right as you are with your left.

He handed her ball as she brought herself together & the two went back to practicing the game they love.

"All right.. Come on girl. I want you to be better than me. Show me something, kid."

Zaccharie Risacher knocks down the late triple that put the Clippers ahead & eventually won the game.

LOS ANGELES — What started off as a good lead for the Phoenix Suns ultimately went sideways after the Los Angeles Clippers rallied back down 9 to start the 4th quarter.

"We let this one slip out of our hands. That's on the guys. They know they fell apart. We'll play better basketball on Friday against the Kings." Suns' coach, LeBron James, told DS.net.

While the Suns' star-studded roster looked excellent with their statlines, the team has fallen short of expectations & suffered a road defeat in LA.

"There's always going to be tough performances throughout an NBA season. Tonight is on us. We're only getting better through the bad nights." Recks Black also told DS.net.

The Clippers' Lance Wilcox was the biggest performer of the night, scoring 33 points to go along with 6 boards & 7 assists in the win.

The Phoenix Suns' 5-game streak comes to an end in Los Angeles but they'll look to get back in the win column on Friday against the Sacramento Kings.

It's certainly a different style I'm used to because I've never played it but damn. With this roster it allows our main 4 to be heavily involved. It really opens the floor & leaves DJ Porter Sr. as our only piece in the middle. I like it.
