some dominant performances so far prior to the Kerr game and still came out with a win

looks like the pack has already started to separate itself early on
Yeah it seems that way. Usually happens IRL too so this mod is standing the test so far anyway.

Wexford FC Snap Up Panamanian Winger Ovidio Lopez on Free Transfer

Wexford FC have continued their busy recruitment drive with the signing of left winger Ovidio Lopez on a free transfer from Panamanian side Plaza Amador, adding more attacking depth ahead of the new campaign.

The 22-year-old wide man arrives in Ferrycarrig Park after impressing in Panama’s top flight, where his pace, direct dribbling, and willingness to take on defenders made him a consistent threat down the left flank. Lopez is expected to bring creativity and energy to Wexford’s forward line, offering both goals and assists from wide areas.

Director of Football Kevin Doyle has been central to the club’s recent recruitment push, targeting emerging international talent alongside domestic prospects. Lopez’s arrival follows a string of proactive scouting moves by the club as they look to build a dynamic, youthful squad capable of pushing up the table.

Speaking after the move was confirmed, sources close to the club highlighted Lopez’s versatility — able to operate as a traditional winger or cut inside into more advanced attacking roles — as a key factor in Wexford’s decision to secure him on a free transfer.

Supporters will be eager to see how quickly the Panamanian adapts to the League of Ireland, but early indications suggest Wexford believe they’ve landed a player with both immediate impact potential and long-term upside.

Nypan the catalyst as Wexford win battle of Ferrycarrig.

Wexford FC continued their strong run of form with a hard-fought 2–1 victory over UCD at Ferrycarrig Park, with Norwegian youngster Sverre Nypan delivering a standout performance that justified the growing hype around the club’s recent recruitment drive.

The hosts made a dream start when Nypan opened the scoring after just seven minutes, finishing confidently after clever movement between the lines. Wexford pressed high and looked dangerous on the counter, with new signing Ovidio Lopez stretching the UCD defence down the left flank.

Wexford doubled their lead on the half-hour mark through striker Mikie Rowe, who capitalised on a quick attacking move to slot home and give the home side control heading into the break. Nypan has beaten the fullback and swung in an inviting cross to which Rowe took first time on the volley. An early goal of the month candidate. Despite UCD enjoying slightly more possession overall, clear chances were limited by a disciplined Wexford defensive structure marshalled by captain Robbie McCourt.

The second half saw UCD push forward with increased urgency, forcing Wexford into deeper defensive phases. Changes from both sides added fresh legs, with Wexford introducing Aaron Dobbs and Darragh Levingston to maintain energy in midfield.

UCD finally broke through in stoppage time when Mohan pulled one back in the 90th minute, setting up a tense finish, but Wexford held firm to secure all three points.

How Things Stand
Wexford FC remain top of the First Division table following their victory over UCD, level on 16 points with Cork City but ahead on momentum as the early promotion race begins to take shape. Cork kept the pressure on with a solid 2–0 win over Longford Town, while Cobh Ramblers strengthened their position with a 3–1 victory against Kerry FC. Athlone Town also continued their strong start, edging Treaty United 1–0 to move into third place on 15 points, just one behind the leading pair. Attention now turns to Wexford’s next fixture against Longford Town, who sit eighth with only three points and will be desperate to turn their season around against the league leaders.

Professional Wexford control proceedings to claim comfortable away win.

Wexford FC delivered another composed and professional performance on the road, securing a 2–0 victory over Longford Town with a dominant display that underlined their growing confidence and attacking cohesion.

The visitors started brightly and took the lead early when Mikie Rowe struck in the 13th minute, finishing off a well-worked move after sustained pressure in the Longford half. Wexford controlled possession and territory from the outset, with Sverre Nypan and Zayd Abada causing constant problems between the lines.

Wexford doubled their advantage midway through the first half when Abada found the net in the 21st minute, capitalising on another slick attacking passage that exposed gaps in Longford’s five-man defence. Despite Longford attempting to regroup, clear chances were limited thanks to disciplined defending from captain Robbie McCourt and his back line.

The second half saw Wexford continue to dictate the tempo, creating several opportunities from set pieces and wide areas. Managerial changes introduced fresh energy late on, with Dobbs and Flynn helping maintain attacking pressure while protecting the lead.

Longford struggled to create meaningful chances despite a few substitutions aimed at changing momentum, leaving Wexford to see out the match comfortably and secure another clean sheet on their travels.

Rowe and Nypan seem to be involved in every match with positive input. Who would be the main challengers for you at the top? Derry?

Nypan strikes in top-of-the-table battle as leaders share the spoils with Cork City.

In a highly anticipated clash between the league’s top scorers and the division’s best defence, Wexford FC and Cork City played out an intense 1–1 draw in a match that lived up to its billing. Both sides demonstrated why they are leading contenders this season, combining tactical discipline with flashes of attacking quality.

Wexford entered the contest full of confidence, while Cork arrived determined to test the hosts’ attacking prowess with their well-organised defensive structure. The opening exchanges were cagey, with both teams pressing aggressively and limiting clear opportunities.

The first half saw a tactical battle unfold, with Cork enjoying slightly more possession but struggling to break through a disciplined Wexford back line marshalled by captain Robbie McCourt. Wexford looked dangerous on transitions, particularly through Sverre Nypan and new signing Ovidio Lopez, who consistently tested Cork’s defensive shape.

Clear-cut chances remained limited before the break, reflecting the quality and organisation on both sides. Goalkeepers Moody and Troost were rarely troubled but remained alert throughout a tense opening period.

Wexford eventually found the breakthrough in the 62nd minute when Sverre Nypan produced a moment of quality, finishing confidently after a slick run similar to last months goal of the month to give the hosts the lead. The goal injected fresh energy into the match, forcing Cork City to push forward in search of an equaliser.

The visitors responded with increased urgency and were rewarded in the 79th minute when Anderson found the net, capitalising on a well-worked attacking phase to level the contest. The closing stages saw both sides push for a winner, but disciplined defending and tactical caution ensured the points were shared.

While neither side emerged victorious, the result reinforced the quality at the top of the table, with Wexford’s attacking flair and Cork’s defensive resilience both on full display in a fiercely contested encounter.
