They have been absolutely amazing. If I don't get promoted teams will be all over them! In the first Division it will be Cork City and Cobh. Top teams in Prem are Shamrock Rovers, St Pats and probably Derry City. Lot of good mid table sides like Sligo, Bohemians, Shelbourne etc too. Have St Pats in the cup soon!

Athlone Town 0 - 1 Wexford FC | First Division Highlights

Rowe penalty and McCourt masterclass secure hard-earned victory for Wexford.
Wexford FC ground out another valuable three points with a disciplined 1–0 victory over Athlone Town in a tightly contested encounter. In a match defined by physical battles and tactical organisation, the Ferrycarrig Vikings showed resilience and maturity to edge past a determined home side.
Athlone started with intensity, pressing aggressively through midfield and looking to disrupt Wexford’s rhythm. However, the visitors gradually settled into the game, using the experience of Aron Gunnarsson and the creativity of Sverre Nypan to control possession and dictate tempo.
The contest remained cagey throughout the first half, with both teams limiting clear chances and focusing on defensive shape. Captain Robbie McCourt delivered an outstanding performance at the back, organising the defensive line and nullifying Athlone’s attacking threats with composure and leadership.
The breakthrough arrived just before half-time when Wexford were awarded a penalty after sustained attacking pressure forced a defensive error. Mikie Rowe stepped up confidently and converted from the spot, giving the visitors a crucial lead heading into the break.

Player of the match: Robbie McCourt 8.1 (WEX)
A commanding defensive performance from the Wexford captain, whose organisation, leadership, and composure under pressure were key to maintaining a clean sheet.

Lopez hit the post for the second game running. He was a menace on the wing again.
The second half saw Athlone push forward in search of an equaliser, committing more players to attack and testing Wexford’s defensive discipline. Despite increased pressure, the visitors remained compact and organised, limiting the home side to only a handful of efforts on goal.
Managerial substitutions added fresh energy late in the game, allowing Wexford to maintain structure and see out the closing stages with professionalism. With Moody alert in goal and McCourt commanding the defence, Wexford successfully protected their narrow advantage to claim another important victory on the road.

Great spot! Lopez has been good. Very little end product but I feel that is coming soon. Very very fast. 86 speed and acceleration.
