We know Armando not loyal so he's probably calling around himself to get a new job with these performances.

Allah put up 1,500 last year and is on a mission again this year. But he also has to, cause Maddox and Gutridge have been steaming piles this year

Coach Armando Leon takes an interview - at the urging of his current head coach mind you - and suddenly he's not loyal. Yet Coach Crashout can take multiple interviews, then cry in the media racial when he doesn't get the job, but he's #loyaltothesoil

2027 Week Ten Preview - #18 Oregon State (7-1) @ Fresno State (2-6)
Ricky McKinley // Dam Daily • Published: November 5th, 2027
We're back on the road again as the Beavers take their four-game win streak and 18th overall ranking south to Fresno State to face the floundering Bulldogs. The Bulldogs may have notched a win against Colorado State two weeks ago, but outside of that have struggled with their only other win coming over FCS Sacramento State in Week One.
The Oregon State Beavers are playing for more than a ranking now, however, as the first CFP Bracket dropped this week and features none other than the Oregon State Beavers, as a projected Pac-12 Champion, in the 11th seed. It's a meteoric rise for a program that was once thought to be relegated to the FCS ranks when the Pac-12 folded following the departure of Oregon, among others.
We'll discuss the new expectations that come with the CFP ranking and more with Coach Leon in the "Leon's Lowdown" on the other side of the statistical breakdown between ourselves and the Bulldogs.

Leon's Lowdown
RM: "Before we get to the game against Fresno State this weekend, what does being listed as the 11-seed in the inaugural CFP Bracket of 2027 mean for this program, after the struggles this program faced as the Pac-12 nearly collapsed three years ago?"
AL: "It's a testament to the hard work we've all put in to build this program back up, the right way. From AD Scott Barnes all the way down, they were committed to rising from the ashes of the old conference and I think our inclusion on the inaugural bracket of 2027 speaks volumes about the success we've attained. You could say that the 2-10 season coupled with the uncertainty surrounding the program was the ultimate low point for Beaver football. For us to turn that uncertainty into a 10-win season and now a legitimate threat to crash the CFP? Hollywood type stuff, Ricky."
RM: "Does the inclusion in the CFP bracket put even more pressure on this squad to keep winning? You have to figure that if you drop a game between now and the Pac-12 Championship, assuming we make it, that it'll kill any Cinderella story."
AL: "It's easy to say no, it changes nothing. Our focus is still the same, one week at a time. But I'd be lying if it wasn't in the back of everyone's minds, including myself, Ricky. One bad game, one freak play, and suddenly those dreams are shot. But we can't let that affect how we prepare, how we play, or how we view our season. If we end up dropping a game, or even two, and don't make the CFP; we still have a lot to be proud of this season. It's a balancing act of being grateful for what we've done, while being hungry for more."
RM: "Last year Fresno State stormed Reser Stadium, during a rainstorm coincidentally, and stunned the Beavers 30-24 behind a masterclass by Aidan Armenta. What does the defense need to do differently to stop a repeat performance by Aidan?"
AL: "It starts with sticking to the fundamentals. In the rain last year we got caught taking sloppy angles and trying to deliver big hits and whiffed, that led to Fresno State gaining the momentum and turning the game on its head. If we play sound, we've got the talent to matchup with their wideouts 1v1 and the skill up front to terrorize Aidan. We're up to 46 sacks and we intend on adding a few more notches to the belt this weekend."
•••
With every win the pressure will continue to mount on the Beavers to keep the momentum rolling through the playoffs. And if we're being honest? It's not the defense I'm worried about. Kallen Gutridge, AJ Maddox, hell even James Rowe. SOMEONE has to do something. We're going to end up squandering another stellar effort from the defense one of these days by putting a goose egg on the board.
But, until it happens we're going to keep rolling up the packs and smoking the opps. Oregon State 27, Fresno State 17. Aidan Armenta gets some traction, but not enough to completely scale the Dam.

Defense Sparks 2nd-Half Surge As Oregon State Runs the Winning Streak To Five
Ricky McKinley // Dam Daily • Published: November 6th, 2027
The Oregon State Beavers have moved to 7-1 this season behind a dominant defense and shaky offensive play with many, myself included, wondering when the wheels would fall off and the Beavers would fall simply because they couldn't score enough points. When Kallen Gutridge went down on the first drive of the game and the Beavers entered halftime trailing 6-3 after AJ Maddox went 6/14 for 85 yards and an interception in the first half, it felt as if the day was finally upon us.
Then Salahadin Allah turned in 63 yards on the opening drive of the second half, including a 25-yard touchdown run, as the Beavers surged into the lead. And from there, the defense took over. MLB Manu Hasty jumped in front of a wobbler from Aidan Armenta, setting up Allah's second touchdown moments later, and Exodus Ayers took a 4th-quarter interception to the house as the Beavers stymied the Bulldogs in the second half.
Armenta and tight end Richie Anderson would find the end zone on the final drive of the game for the Bulldogs, salvaging some pride after being held to just 60 yards to that point in the second half.
It was another signature win for Coach Leon's defense that gave up 154 yards in the first half, but only allowed a pair of field goals, before buckling down until the final drive by Fresno State. In all, the defense surrendered 304 total yards while tallying 20 tackles for loss, six sacks, and two interceptions to help lead the Beavers to an 8-1 start as they continue climbing the AP rankings.
Let's take it to Coach Leon in the post-game presser to talk about the spark Allah gave the team out of the break and how they neutralized Fresno State's star quarterback.
•••
Question One - Lance Vickers (The Collegian): "Aidan Armenta carved you up in last year's meeting, especially in a second half that saw the Bulldogs score 21 points to stun your Beavers. What was the game plan going into today's matchup and how did you neutralize their passing game to come away with the victory?"
Armando Leon: "We needed to understand that even if we gave up a big play or two, we couldn't let that get our spirits down. Bend, but don't break. We did that to perfection in the first half and before I forget, hats off to Trey. He played a helluva game. Two sacks, multiple PBUs, AND a blocked field goal. That's the kind of effort you love to see. Back to the point, we gave up a few field goals and bought enough time for our offense to break through. Once we had the lead and they went one-dimensional, we went to work. We just started pinning our ears back knowing they were going through the air, started racking up hits on Armenta, and that led to a pair of interceptions and six sacks."
Question Two - Olivia LeRusso (Oregonlive): "How frustrating is it knowing that one bad outing from the offense and suddenly a stalwart effort by your defense is ruined, like almost happened tonight, Coach?"
Armando Leon: "You could flip that and say one bad outing by my defense, and a strong effort from the offense could be wasted. Our job is to keep them off the board, period. If we lose because the offense didn't score enough points, that means we gave up too many by the same metric. There are days we've got to pick the offense up and there will be days they have to pick us up, it would be foolhardy to think otherwise. Allah broke through out of the break and that gave us the edge to get aggressive, we get more turnovers, they get more points. It's symbiotic, Olivia."
Question Three - Chip Swarley (CW Sports): "With the win Oregon State moves to 8-1 with three games remaining. How do you balance recognizing what's at stake—a potential College Football Playoff berth—with focusing on not looking ahead and getting upset?"
Armando Leon: "We preach playing one game at a time, and we mean that, Chip. But just ignoring the facts in front of you doesn't prepare anyone for them. We spend time each week acknowledging what potentially lies ahead of us, whether it be a conference championship, awards guys like Manu Hasty and Kelze Howard are potentially in line for, or making the playoffs. Then, we focus on what we need to accomplish to make those things attainable, which is winning and executing at the standard we hold ourselves to."
•••
Coach may be right, there may be a day when the offense needs to bail out a piss-poor defensive effort. But at this point? They'll owe it to them. How many games this season have we watched the defense claw to keep the opposition off the board until our own guys finally figure it out?
Kallen got hurt again and while Coach Jonathan Smith said he'll be good to go next week, Gutridge already has a growing injury history.
If he goes down again, does the staff take a look at James Rowe? Or do they stick with Maddox, knowing he has shown flashes of competent QB play, and hope that Allah can drag them to the finish behind a shutdown defense?
With Boise State looming in two weeks' time, followed by even higher-stakes matchups potentially lying in wait, it's a question the Beavers will need to figure out before it torpedoes a promising season.

2027 Week Eleven Preview - Colorado State (5-4) @ #15 Oregon State (8-1)
Ricky McKinley // Dam Daily • Published: November 12th, 2027
Oregon State returns home from Fresno State with an 8-1 record and the 15th spot in the latest AP Poll, but despite those accolades; the Beavers can ill-afford a mental lapse against the Colorado State Rams at home this weekend if they want to make a second consecutive conference championship game. Both Boise State and our Beavers sit atop the conference, each with undefeated conference records, meaning the Beavers could potentially not only drop out of the rankings, but lose their inside position in the conference championship game with consecutive losses, making this home contest before traveling to Boise State next week even more important than originally suspected.
Colorado State started the season at 4-1 with a road loss to Wisconsin being the only blemish, leaving many to think that they may be a serious contender alongside Oregon State and Boise State, but a 1-4 record over their last five has left the CSU Rams playing spoiler more than anything.
On the other side of our statistical comparison between the two programs we'll talk with Coach Leon about keeping focus as the season winds down and the various Oregon State Beavers who are up for awards.

Leon's Lowdown
RM: "Three games left in the season and a conference championship berth is still up in the air. Would you prefer a spot in the championship game come down to the wire, or clinch earlier and coast to the finish?"
AL: "Definitely come down to the wire, Ricky. Iron sharpens iron and you can't expect to be ready for the bright lights if you put it in neutral and coast there. Would it be unfortunate if one or two late losses kept us out of the conference game? Absolutely. But then if we wanted answers as to why we weren't playing on championship weekend, we would just need to look in the mirror."
RM: " Your defense is currently ranked 1st in both scoring defense and yards per game, how gratifying is it to see guys like Manu Hasty—who is up for the Bednarik, Nagurski, and Butkus—and Shamar Meikle and Kelze Howard—who are both up for the Defensive End of the Year—being in line to get recognition for all their hard work and preparation going into the season?"
AL: "Ultimately, the only trophy we do this for is the big one, as unrealistic as some may think that is at Oregon State. But, if you aren't preparing to be the National Champion, you're just preparing to lose. By the same token, you love to see guys get rewarded individually for their accomplishments, 'cause it justifies the effort to not only them, but everyone in the locker room and everyone you potentially are bringing into the locker room. It's a standard that we preach and when guys buy in and reap the rewards, it's a talking point. 'Look, these guys did it and look how it benefited them. What could it do for you?' It becomes a defining accomplishment of the standard you built, as well as a great recruiting tool."
RM: "Coach Jonathan Smith is in line for the Bear Bryant as well, but you aren't listed among the Broyles contenders. Does that irk you at all?"
AL: "Those that matter know the work and effort I put into coaching this defense and being a leader at this program. Coach Smith has done a helluva job this year and he deserves the recognition. Sometimes being the guy behind the face of the program means you give up some prestige, but like I said, those that know, know. And my time is coming, rest assured."
RM: "We'd be remiss if we didn't address this matchup with the Rams. Darius Curry and the Rams struggled against your defense last year, and this defense is markedly better than last year's edition. Are you anticipating another dominant effort to get the boys ready for the trip to Albertson's Stadium next week?"
AL: "They've got a lot of talent, regardless of what the stats say. Curry has a live arm and the speed to make you pay if you forget about it and they've got a dynamic running back in Benjamin Hall. You could look at the raw stats and say it should be an easier matchup for us, but it's a conference game and as we already noted, we can't afford to be caught slipping before the clash on The Blue."
•••
The showdown with Boise State on the Blue next week has the potential to be a conference championship game preview, but only if we both take care of business beforehand. For Oregon State, that starts at Reser Stadium against the Rams tomorrow.
We beat them 48-14 last year and unless this is finally the game that our own offense betrays us, I don't see any reason why it won't be an equally impressive showing.
I'll hedge my bets a bit, due to our own lackluster quarterback performance of late, and say 10 Colorado State, 31 Oregon State.
