Indeed, jumping in LIVE wasn't a good idea: sacked even after a string of five unbeaten games...

So, instead of quitting immediately, I did a re-sim and a re-write of previous posts - changes are minor

The biggest change is an unexpected loss against NEC. And even though NEC is doing not as well as in real life, the defeat does open up an exciting battle for 2nd and 3rd.

In the Dutch Eredivisie there are 34 games (so 10 to go from here) - the top 5 teams are guaranteed a shot in the European UEFA-tournaments in the season after:

• The champion and runner-up play in the group stage of UEFA Champions League
• The team finishing 3rd in Eredivisie plays qualifying for UEFA Champions League
• The cup-winner plays group stage of UEFA Europa League
• The highest ranked team in Eredivisie, outside the top 3 that isn't the cup winner, playes qualifying for UEFA Europa League
• The highest ranked team in Eredivisie after that goes into group stage of UEFA European Conference League

Yes, one of the more positive consequences of the re-sim + re-write. But Champions League is way more important than winning the Cup

Going to the north of the Netherlands, visiting FC Groningen in snowy weather and icey temperatures. It's where things went wrong last season in the penultimate round: Groningen scored in injury time ending the game in a draw, which allowed PSV to overtake Farioli's Ajax and claim the title in the final round.


This time none of that. Ajax showed a solid game; especially in the first half the Amsterdam side were dominant. Other results also went Ajax' way, with AZ losing at PSV (1-0). The quest for the second Champions League seems to be going well, though games at Feyenoord (round 28) and at home against Twente (round 29), PSV (round 32) and Utrecht (round 33) still await, plus there's the Cup final coming up. Plenty still to play for.


Ajax is gradually getting more and more attacking: under the influence of Albert Capellas and Daniel Marzec, the coaching staff changed the team to a 1-3-4-2-1 formation in the second half, resulting in daring and freewheeling displays in various areas of the pitch. Under Jordi Cruijff management, it is the goal of Ajax to return to classic Cruijffian Total Football with mostly homegrown players: today Ajax Academy-players Jorthy Mokio, Kian Fitz-Jim, Sean Steur, Rayane Bounida, Mika Godts and the prime minister's cousin (yes...) Lucas Jetten made minutes, while Youri Baas captained the team. "We are in transition, but things are heading in the right direction", Jordi confirmed.

@Justincase and @Sonny might already know: alongside my character and club, I put big emphasis on where my club (and the league it plays in) stand in the whole European context. So, even when not active in Europe, I do give lots of attention to it while keeping the UEFA coeffitient calculations going in the background. These, I present a handful of times throughout a running season, as to show you where my team and league are in the grander scheme of things.

A difficult win: in the first half struggled hard to get hold of the ball and the opponent. In the second half, we appeared to be more effective and managed to turn around a 1-0 disadvantage: Kasper Dolberg headed in a corner, Youri Regeer converted an end-to-end corner rebound counter attack. Three hard fought points, but a troublesome display with arch rivals Feyenoord up ahead and Wout Weghorst for the remainder of the season.
