But no, I wasn't talking about real FG%, just about learning everyone's shot on a consistent basics.
Makes complete sense. I also think I need to find some sliders that give a little more leeway on user shooting as well to give myself a fighting chance at hitting shots consistently while I’m learning their jumpers.

most people use Real % because it puts an emphasis on getting good looks, not just greening the shot. You could take a contested step-back 3 with two hands in your face, but if you green the release it'll still go in. With Real FG% it puts more emphasis on the sliders and overall ratings

I use real FG%, but I see the allure of both. Ultimately, you do what feels best for you. We got caught up in the challenge sometimes, but the most important part is having fun :yep:

I’ve never tried Real FG%, so my question would be does your shooting inputs matter at all or is it just based on offensive player shooting rating, defensive player defensive ratings and the coverage (more or less, obviously)?

purely ratings-based or so it's supposed to be.

when you're driving to the basket or doing post-moves, they still matter. Using the stick to signal a dunk vs a pull up shot matters, but the timing of the release does not.

so if you're just coming off a screen, you can tap the shoot button to pump, or hold it down to shoot, but when you release it once you initiate the shot animation does not matter. But in the post, if you just use the shot button it'll do whatever shot would be in that situation, usually a turnaround jumper. But if you use the stick you can input what kind of shot it takes, then it goes to the ratings again.

once you initiate the shot animation it is purely based on the rating metrics. Its just meant to prevent you from perfecting say Bronny James' shot and turning him into a 60 PPG scorer lol. It'll be harder for him to sink wide open 3s, than Steph, based on the ratings, not your individual input

I use real FG % and I see both sides

i just think trying to master a player's shooting timing is hard enough, now do that for 12-15 players and like redsox said, it can cause shooting splits to be unrealistic for certain players whose skillset don't merit that

Fun fact: just realized when I purchased 2k26 I installed the XBOX One version of the game and not Series X. I'm very doubtful that the save can transfer over but I may go in and simulate to this point - with my wins and losses the same - and keep this going.

If your save file is in the cloud, it should work
