Hawks Report: Mar 7 - Mar 14

March 14, 2026 -- The Atlanta Hawks faced a challenging week, starting with a disappointing 112-101 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. The game was marred by the early exit of All-Star Jalen Johnson, who sprained his knee just 10 minutes in. With Joel Embiid dominating the paint, scoring 27 points and grabbing 9 rebounds, the Hawks struggled to keep pace.

In a subsequent matchup against the Dallas Mavericks, the Hawks continued to falter, committing a staggering 26 turnovers in a 101-91 defeat, further exposing their offensive woes without Johnson. Despite shooting well from the field, Atlanta's slow third quarter proved fatal. In contrast, the veterans for Dallas, particularly Klay Thompson and Khris Middleton.

However, the Hawks finally broke through with a 125-113 victory over the Brooklyn Nets, led by CJ McCollum's impressive 28 points, which was a much-needed boost. Philadelphia 112, Atlanta 101 -- Atlanta kicked off the start of a five-game home stand with 10-point loss against a Philly squad missing Paul George, which was the second time these teams faced off in the last three weeks. This time, Joel Embiid (27 points, 9 rebounds, 4 blocks) played, and led the way along with Tyrese Maxey. The headline of the game, however, was Hawks' All-Star Jalen Johnson exiting the game after just 10 minutes with a sprained knee after scoring seven points. He'll be re-evaluated in 10 days.

A slow, 15-point third quarter was the ultimate blow. It was an especially tough outing for CJ McCollum, who scored 13 points on just 4-of-17 shooting and six turnovers. For the Mavericks, it was the savvy play of veterans Klay Thompson and Khris Middleton, who combined for 56 points, including 12-of-19 from three.

Brooklyn 113, Atlanta 125 -- The Hawks finally were able to put a home win on the board in a fast paced game against lowly Brooklyn team. CJ McCollum led the way with 28 points, while Nickeil Alexander-Walker chipped in with 23 and nine rebounds. Onyeka Okongwu scored 20 points and also grabbed nine boards, but maybe even more impactful was his four blocks.

With Giannis still sidelined, Milwaukee took revenge with six-point win that saw six players score in double figures. For the Hawks, it was a poor shooting night, just 38% from the field. Atlanta faces Orlando next in a critical game that has playoff implications as we inch closer to the end of the season.
