Titans finalize roster with thirteen signings ahead of offseason workouts
The Tennessee Titans have signed thirteen players, including sevem undrafted free agents to fill out their roster as they head into OTAs.

The list includes UDFA running backs Mike Wiggins (Northwestern) and Darren Jacobson (FAU), fullback Andrew Beck, UDFA receiver Trevor Waldron (Texas), UDFA tight end Matt Covington (Indiana), UDFA offensive tackle Tamani Tangley (FAU), offensive tackle Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson, guard Jared Thomas, UDFA defensive tackle Lucas Morris (Wisconsin), linebackers Aubrey Miller and Curtis Jacobs, safety Rayshawn Jenkins and UDFA punter Jordan Morales (Minnesota).

Crenshaw-Dickson and Jacobs have spent time with the Titans before with Crenshaw-Dickson being on the team last season. He'll be competing for a roster spot as one of the backup offensive tackles where the Titans drafted Bradley Sanders in the fourth round.

Wiggins and Jacobson join another rookie in Antoine Booth to the running back room, all competing for that third running back spot after the Titans opted not to re-sign Damien Martinez.

Training Camp Confidential: Sizing up the Titans' early position battles as camp gets underway
The Tennessee Titans opened training camp on Monday and while all of the focus and media attention was on Cam Ward's looming contract extension or the new additions to the roster, there are plenty of positional battles that will be won, and lost, on the practice field and in the three preseason games over the course of the next six weeks.

Here’s an early look at what figure to be three competitive position battles.

Slot receiver
Contenders: Chimere Dike, Xavier Restrepo

Chimere Dike had a breakout sophomore season, catching five touchdown passes and forty receptions but saw his production dip a bit last year as he caught thirty-three passes for 363 yards and a touchdown. A big reason for that was Justin Jefferson's addition which saw him get more touches as well as more snaps in the slot but also the emergence of Xavier Restrepo.

While Dike ultimately played more than Restrepo, Restrepo was the more productive of the two receivers with fifty-seven receptions for 537 yards and four touchdowns. Restrepo's effectiveness as a blocker and willingness to do some of the dirty work is one of the reasons why we saw Restrepo continue to see the field.

This is a big year for both players as they'll be looking to play themselves into an extension with Dike either showing he can do the dirty work as well and be the feature slot receiver or Restrepo will be more dynamic as a receiver and earn a lion share of the snaps and with it, an extension.

Tight end
Contenders: Chigoziem Okonwko, Darnell Washington

Similar to slot, both of these players will likely both be a part of what Tennessee does at tight end but a clear TE1 has yet to be established as Chigoziem Okonkwo will look to bounce back from last year where he dealt with injuries.

Prior to that, and Darnell Washington's addition to the roster, Okonkwo was the Titans' top receiving option, leading the team in receiving in 2026 with 71 catches for 752 yards and five touchdowns. Washington was the more productive of the two last year with 29 receptions with three touchdowns but the production wasn't great either, not providing much as a receiver beyond check downs.

Okonkwo will look to regain his form but Washington remains as a dark horse with his contribution in the running game as a blocker which the Titans clearly value which is why they signed him two offseasons ago despite having just one catch with the Steelers the year before.

Nickel
Contenders: Roger McCreary, Elijah Jones, Brice Pollock

Probably the most intriguing of the battles is at nickel where the addition of Jaire Alexander, albeit likely as a one-year rental, has shaken up the cornerback room.

Roger McCreary suddenly finds himself as the odd man at outside corner despite being due over $20 million over the next two seasons, with $12.4 million being guaranteed. McCreary has the skillset to play at nickel but he's played almost exclusively on the outside for the past three seasons.

On the inside, it's been Elijah Jones for the last two seasons who had a breakout year in 2026 with 91 tackles and twelve pass breakups after being a late addition to the roster during the roster deadline weekend. He shared playing time in the nickel with Marcus Jones last year and finds himself in another competition for that starting spot but does have the more experience at nickel among the group.

The wildcard here is Brice Pollock, the second-year man out of Texas Tech. A surprise addition in the draft two years ago, Pollock played more than most expected with two pass breakups, playing in every game and finishing last year with nearly 300 snaps. For a team that will need to be cap conscious, Pollock is salary controlled for three more seasons at around $1.3 million which would be a bargain for a starting nickel.

Donovan Olugbode stars in debut as Commanders drop preseason opener to Titans
Washington Commanders first round pick Donovan Olugbode had quite the debut, taking his first NFL touch 66-yards for a touchdown in the Commanders 41-34 loss to the Tennessee Titans to open the preseason.

Cam Ward played only a drive for the Titans, throwing a touchdown to Xavier Restrepo before calling it a day. Star receiver Justin Jefferson only played a drive as well, being targeted twice by Ward for a catch and twelve yards. Ward was then replaced by Jalen Milroe who went 2 for 3 for 26 yards and rushed for sixty-three yards but his fumble on a sack led to a touchdown, the first of three fumbles from the Titans that kept the Commanders in the game, including a fumble with less than a minute left when they were trying to run out the clock by rookie Darren Jacobson.

The fumble would allow Rocco Becht and the Commanders to have a final crack at potentially tying the game but after getting the ball to the 24-yard line, the Commanders offense would run out of time as Becht's completion to Ashton Dulin left him ten yards shy of the endzone as time expired.

First look at some new Titans
Julian Lewis played the entire second half, completing 7 of 10 passes for 90 yards with two touchdowns on the ground as a scrambler. We didn't see much downfield passing but when he did push the ball down the field, Lewis looked pretty good and in command of the offense.

The three rookie running backs got involved with Mike Wiggins averaging 8.3 yards per carry and was the first rookie off the bench. Antoine Booth fumbled on his third carry, finishing his day with 39 yards on four carries while Darren Jacobson was quietly having a really good day, leading the team in rushing with seventy-six yards but then fumbled when the Titans were trying to run out the clock.

At receiver, rookie Allen McGill was the standout with five receptions for fifty-one yards. Fifth round tight end Gabe Matias also scored on a touchdown.

We didn't get to see much of the free agent signings on defense with Edgerrin Cooper getting three tackles in the few snaps he got while Jaire Alexander wasn't thrown at once while he was out there. The same can't be said for Elijah Jones and Roger McCreary, the returning starters on the secondary, as they struggled against Olugbode who finished the game with five receptions for 128 yards, beating Jones for the touchdown.

Injury Report
Titans tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo was held out and had a brace on his left knee, picking up the injury in camp. Free agent acquisition safety Nick Cross is still sidelined with a torn pectoral he suffered last year as he recovers and is expected to be back by the second month of the season.

Offensive tackle Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson left with an injury which doesn't bode well for his chances to make the roster.

Titans get outmuscled in loss to Carolina Panthers as Tennessee rests veteran players
The Tennessee Titans spent the past week in Charlotte, participating in joint practices with the Carolina Panthers before wrapping up their week in a 20-17 loss to the Panthers.

Cam Ward, Justin Jefferson and several other veteran players did not play as Jalen Milroe got the start at quarterback for the Titans. It was a rough start for Milroe who completely only 57 percent of his passes but more importantly fumbled twice, once in the redzone and another that was returned for a touchdown. He did have a touchdown called back due to holding and finished with 44 yards on the ground.

He was replaced by Julian Lewis in the second half who rushed for 55 yards and threw for 112 yards, completing 68 percent of his passes with a touchdown to Xavier Restrepo. The Titans were ultimately unable to close the game out, failing to convert on third and one after an incompletion and then were stopped in the backfield with a minute left with the ball around midfield.

Carolina was the more physical of the two teams, averaging 6.9 yards per carry on the ground. D.J. Lagway went 5 of for 106 yards and a touchdown, throwing a pick six to Elijah Jones who had a forced fumble as well but also gave up the long touchdown to Cam Coleman on a 67-yard grab.
