Florida QB DJ Lagway Announces Transfer Portal Entry After Turbulent Season

Florida quarterback DJ Lagway announced Monday that he will enter the transfer portal, ending a roller-coaster year that many around the program expected would lead to a fresh start once Billy Napier was fired midseason.

Lagway finished the 2025 season with 3,334 passing yards and 18 touchdowns, but also threw 13 interceptions while completing 251 of 400 passes. He added 160 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns, flashing the athletic upside that made him one of the most intriguing young quarterbacks in the SEC, even as Florida’s offense struggled to find consistency week to week.

With Napier gone and the Gators turning the page, Lagway’s move had been widely anticipated. Florida hired LSU defensive coordinator Blake Baker to replace Napier, and the quarterback position now becomes one of the most immediate roster priorities as the new staff begins reshaping the program.

The expectation is Florida will explore the portal aggressively for an experienced starter to stabilize the offense in 2026.

Lagway, meanwhile, enters a quarterback market that should be active, and he’ll have no shortage of suitors looking for a player with high-end tools who has already logged significant game reps in a major conference.

Missouri running back Ahmad Hardy announced Monday that he is entering the transfer portal, a major blow to one of college football’s most explosive offenses and one of the biggest skill-position departures of the winter window.

Hardy was a finalist-level star in 2025, finishing second in Doak Walker Award voting behind Notre Dame’s Jeremiyah Love after a season that made him the engine of Missouri’s attack.

He carried the ball 258 times for 1,621 yards and 12 rushing touchdowns, consistently ripping off chunk gains and forcing defenses to load the box, a commitment that often opened up Missouri’s passing game.

Hardy’s production wasn’t limited to early downs, either. He became a real weapon in the passing game, adding 32 receptions for 241 yards and three receiving touchdowns, giving Missouri a reliable outlet that punished teams when they overcommitted to stopping him between the tackles.

The decision is a seismic change for a Tigers offense that leaned on Hardy’s efficiency, physicality and big-play ability week after week. Missouri now faces the task of replacing not only a top-tier ball carrier, but the identity piece of its unit.

Hardy, meanwhile, immediately becomes one of the most coveted backs in the portal.

In-State Five-Star OL Garrison Volk Commits to Ohio State for 2027

The Buckeyes have now added two of the top three in-state prospects for the class.



Ohio State's 2027 class just got its biggest trench piece, and one of the most important in-state wins of the early cycle, as Trotwood-Madison (Dayton, OH) IOL Garrison Volk committed to the Buckeyes on Tuesday.

Volk is rated as a five-star prospect, the No. 14 player nationally, the No. 3 player in Ohio and the No. 1 interior offensive lineman in the country, giving Ohio State its first offensive line commitment in the class and a tone-setter for what comes next.

If you haven’t watched Volk yet, the evaluation makes sense in about three snaps. At 6-foot-5 and 315 pounds, he’s already built like a college upperclassman, and he plays like one too, violent hands, heavy hips, and the kind of raw power that can change a high school game on contact.

There are technical areas to refine, particularly in pass protection where his footwork can get a little jumpy, but the foundation is what Ohio State covets: he’s strong, he’s nasty, and he’s quick enough to keep that power functional instead of static. The short arms likely keep him inside at the next level, but that’s not a limitation as much as it is a clean projection. Volk looks like an interior mauler with Sunday upside.

“I’ve always felt the weight of what my family’s Notre Dame history means,” Volk said. “But I’m choosing what’s best for me, and Coach Bowen made it clear how I fit and what I can become at Ohio State. I want to be developed, I want to be coached hard, and I want to play for championships.”

That family pull was real. Volk is a Notre Dame legacy, his grandfather played for the Irish in the 1960s, and for much of the process it felt like South Bend would have a legitimate shot to make it uncomfortable for Ohio State down the stretch. But the relationship Volk built with offensive line coach Tyler Bowen ultimately carried the day.

Ohio State didn’t recruit Volk like a luxury; they recruited him like a priority, and Volk responded to the message of immediate development, long-term NFL preparation and the idea that the offensive line can be an identity piece again in Columbus.

Volk’s pledge also adds another win in what’s shaping up as an unusually top-heavy Ohio class in 2027. He’s one of the “Big Three” in the state, three prospects viewed as early five-stars and program-defining recruits, and he’s the second of that trio to land in Ohio State’s class.

St. Xavier (Cincinnati, OH) WR Zion Meeks is already committed, leaving the obvious white whale still on the board in Northmont (Clayton, OH) WR/DB Vonn Fuller, the 2025 Mr. Football who’s drawing Travis Hunter-style two-way comparisons and has a real chance to finish as the top overall player in the cycle.

Ohio State doesn’t need to “close the trifecta” this early, but locking up Meeks and Volk gives the Buckeyes legitimate momentum heading into a recruitment that will be as national as it is local.

For the broader class, Volk becomes commitment No. 5 for Ohio State in 2027 and the first on the offensive line, a noteworthy development after the Buckeyes signed seven offensive linemen in the 2026 class as Bowen works to overhaul the room.

The volume Ohio State takes up front in 2027 is still an open question, but there was never any mystery about whether there’d be space for a player like Volk. Five-star interior linemen who look this physically ready and project this cleanly don’t come around often, and Ohio State treated it accordingly.

In a class that already had skill talent and defensive line pieces in place, Volk gives it a true trench anchor, the kind of commitment that doesn’t just add a blue chip to the list, but signals how Ohio State wants to build the next great roster: with in-state stars up front, and a standard that doesn’t wait until the fall to start forming.

Alabama QB Ty Simpson Enters Transfer Portal After Breakout Season

Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson announced Thursday that he will enter the transfer portal, a surprising move for a junior who produced one of the more efficient stat lines in the country in his first season as the Crimson Tide’s starter.

Simpson finished the 2025 season completing 300 of 449 passes for 3,676 yards, 28 touchdowns and four interceptions, adding 264 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns. He steadied Alabama’s offense for much of the year and played well enough to be considered one of the top quarterbacks available once the portal opens.

But the decision comes amid significant pressure around the program after Alabama missed the College Football Playoff, with attention already shifting toward the future of the quarterback room.

Five-star true freshman Keelon Russell and sophomore Austin Mack have generated buzz as the next wave, and the noise from boosters and the fan base has only intensified as Alabama evaluates the direction of the offense going into 2026.

Simpson’s combination of production, experience in a high-expectation environment and relatively low turnover rate should make him a premium target on the market. Programs looking for an immediate starter will have him near the top of their list as the portal cycle ramps up.
