Been crazy busy all week. Massive rehab work on my back with physio. Stretching, squatting. Resistance bands and 3-5k on treadmill daily. So bit behind on updates here. Will get some up very soon. Going to finish this season out, and will maybe do a little side project based in 1990s premier league before coming back for season 2 with Wexford.

I think celebrating right in front of the keeper is justified for an extra time goal

Standard Liege complete €3.5m signing of Wexford FC wonderkid Sverre Nypan
The remarkable rise of teenage midfielder Sverre Nypan took another major step this week after Belgian side Standard Liège completed a €3.5 million deal to sign the Wexford FC starlet, bringing an end to one of the most exciting chapters in the club’s recent history.
The Norwegian prospect, who joined Wexford FC earlier this season, had attracted widespread attention across Europe after a series of standout performances in the League of Ireland First Division. His vision, composure and knack for decisive goals quickly made him one of the most talked-about young players in Irish football.
According to sources, the deal escalated rapidly in recent days as several clubs attempted to secure the midfielder’s signature. Italian side Venezia FC were among the clubs to submit offers, alongside three other European teams, sparking a bidding war that ultimately pushed the price to €3.5 million. Standard Liège are understood to have secured the transfer by presenting both the highest fee and the most attractive contract for the player.
For Wexford, the departure represents a huge sporting blow. Nypan had become central to the team’s promotion push, dictating play from midfield and delivering moments of quality that often separated tight games. His absence leaves a significant creative void in the squad with the business end of the season approaching.
Yet financially, the deal could prove transformative. The record transfer fee is expected to provide long-term stability for the club and allow greater investment in infrastructure and recruitment in the coming seasons.
Managerial staff will now look inward for solutions. Moroccan midfielder Zayd Abada is one option who could take on greater creative responsibility, while striker Mikie Rowe may be asked to operate deeper in attacking midfield to compensate for the loss of Nypan’s playmaking.
Another potential successor is teenage prospect Kaylem Harnett, who recently produced a stunning performance against Treaty United, scoring a spectacular goal and setting up Conor Levingston in an eye-catching display. However, Harnett suffered an ankle injury shortly after and is expected to be sidelined for around three weeks, delaying his potential breakthrough.
With just seven days remaining in the transfer window, attention now turns to how Wexford will respond. The club must decide whether to reinvest part of the Nypan windfall immediately in a replacement, or instead hold firm with the current squad and plan a more measured rebuild next season.
Either way, the sale marks a defining moment for the club — the loss of a generational talent, but also a financial opportunity that could shape Wexford’s future for years to come.

WEXFORD PULL OFF DOUBLE LOAN SWOOP
Doyle uses English connections to land Collyer and Osula after Nypan exit
Wexford FC have pulled off a sensational late transfer window double by securing the loan signings of Toby Collyer and William Osula until January in what many around the league are calling a massive coup for the First Division promotion contenders.
The pair arrive at Wexford FC following the record-breaking €3.5 million departure of Norwegian star Sverre Nypan to Standard Liège earlier this week.
Sources close to the club say Wexford will cover just over 50 per cent of both players’ wages as part of the deal, making the move an attractive short-term solution while still protecting the club’s finances.
Director of Football Kevin Doyle is understood to have played a crucial role in getting the transfers over the line. The former Ireland international used his extensive contacts in English football to convince both clubs that Wexford would be the perfect place for the young talents to gain senior experience.
Collyer is expected to strengthen the midfield following Nypan’s departure, bringing energy and composure on the ball, while Osula arrives as a powerful attacking option capable of adding pace and physicality to Wexford’s forward line.
The double arrival has lifted spirits around Ferrycarrig Park, with supporters hopeful the new additions can help maintain the club’s push for promotion in the League of Ireland First Division.
With the transfer window closing fast, Wexford fans will now be eager to see how quickly the new recruits settle as the Slaneysiders look to keep pace with leaders Cork City in what promises to be a thrilling title race.
