No. 8 Stanford rolls past New Mexico as Earl Nienhuis throws five touchdowns in a half
Earl Nienhuis threw for five touchdowns, including a 82-yarder on the first play of the game, and only needed a half of action to throw for 309 yards as Stanford rolled to a 80-3 victory over New Mexico on Saturday.
Sophomore running back Malik Marshall rushed for a career high 169 yards with three touchdowns, two of which went for 62 and 50 yards respectively. Stanford emptied its bench with all five scholarship quarterbacks seeing some action, including true freshman Danny Roldan who made his Stanford debut.
"I felt like we were explosive and responded well to their tempo on defense," Cardinal coach Bubba Mack said, "There's some things we can clean up, as always, but a really good outing and got a chance to see a lot of our guys."
Redshirt freshman David Okuayinonu were among the standouts on defense with two sacks. Scoring Summary Quarter 1 Shaquille Knight 82 Yd pass from Earl Nienhuis (11:46) Rodney Cookus 5 Yd pass from Earl Nienhuis (9:06) Earl Nienhuis, 11 Yd run (6:59)

Coaches gonna use this as an example of why the NCAA should make it eight games before you have to redshirt. Man used FIVE QBs Should've let them throw it though

Three-star former basketball player Trayvon Holliday commits to the Cardinal
Chris Wallace -- 247Sports Stanford Football Insider
Stanford has added another defensive prospect in their class, this time along the trenches as Junípero Serra High School defensive lineman Trayvon Holliday has committed to Stanford.
While the Cardinal were his only FBS offer, Holliday held interest from Big Ten schools such as Oregon, Illinois and Rutgers and camped at Nevada, South Carolina and East Carolina over the summer where he attracted some interest. A former basketball player that transferred to Serra as a junior to play football, Holliday has some intriguing physical tools that make him a low floor, high upside type of player.
He's primarily played tight end and defensive end at the high school level but projects to be an interior defensive lineman for the Cardinal at six-foot-two and 288 pounds with a frame that could see him get into the 300s. The biggest question is whether or not Holliday will be able to turn some of that raw power and athleticism that he has into functional play strength, primarily against the run. He has a tendency to want to crash down and slant into gaps, which can result in some highlight reel plays but also puts him at risk of being washed down, which has happened against better competition.
