USF RECRUITING REPORT
BULLS LAND FIVE-STAR RECEIVER, STRENGTHEN NATION'S TOP GROUP OF FIVE CLASS
Image
USF's recruiting class took a major step forward this week as the Bulls secured commitments from three additional prospects, highlighted by one of the biggest recruiting victories in program history.

Five-star wide receiver Josh Valles, three-star quarterback Ben Vilain, and three-star punter Austin Fowler all announced their commitments to DJ Porter and the Bulls, pushing USF's 2030 recruiting class to No. 16 nationally with a class rating of 165.10. The Bulls now possess the highest-rated class in the American Conference by a wide margin, comfortably ahead of Florida Atlantic, whose class ranks 38th nationally with a 121.25 rating.

The headline addition is unquestionably Valles, a five-star receiver from Lake City, Florida. Ranked as the No. 4 overall player in the country, the No. 1 prospect in Florida, and the nation's top-ranked wide receiver, Valles chose USF over national powers Clemson and LSU in a recruiting battle that stretched deep into the season.

Landing a player of Valles' caliber sends a message nationally about where the program currently stands.

The elite receiver projects as an immediate impact player thanks to a rare blend of route-running polish and athletic ability. Evaluators rave about his acceleration, change-of-direction skills, and ability to separate at every level of the field. Valles already runs an advanced route tree for a high school prospect and possesses the ball skills needed to consistently make contested catches. His combination of route-running, body control, and playmaking ability after the catch gives him true No. 1 receiver potential from the moment he arrives on campus.

For a program that has built much of its recent offensive success around explosive passing attacks, securing the nation's top receiver over two perennial College Football Playoff contenders represents a defining recruiting win.

The Bulls also added an important future piece at quarterback with the commitment of Tampa native Ben Vilain. The dual-threat signal caller selected USF over fellow American Conference contender Florida Atlantic and in-state power Florida State.

Vilain brings a dynamic skill set to the position. While he still has developmental work ahead as a passer, his mobility immediately stands out. He possesses the speed and acceleration to extend plays outside the pocket and create explosive gains as a runner. Coaches also like his natural arm strength and believe his athletic tools give him significant long-term upside once he arrives in the program.

Keeping the local prospect home was another important victory for Porter and his staff as they continue strengthening recruiting relationships throughout the Tampa area.

The final addition came from specialist Austin Fowler, one of the nation's top punting prospects. Ranked among the best players at his position nationally, Fowler gives the Bulls a potential weapon in the kicking game for years to come.

The Apopka native possesses outstanding leg strength and the ability to consistently flip field position. He combines impressive distance with strong placement ability and arrives with a reputation as one of the more polished specialists in the Southeast. While specialists rarely receive headlines, Fowler addresses an important long-term roster need and gives USF another highly regarded in-state prospect.

With signing day approaching, the Bulls continue to build one of the strongest classes in school history. Between elite skill-position talent, defensive depth, and key developmental prospects at quarterback and special teams, USF's 2030 class is rapidly becoming the standard within the American Conference.
