Alabama Crimson Tide
By Darren Carter-Jones

Image
ALABAMA QB ANDREW STRICKLAND

Alabama 2018: 9-4 (6-2)
Head Coach: Luke Fickell (0-0 Alabama, 41-36 Career)

Key Players
QB Andrew Strickland
OG T.J. Hood
MLB Marvin Gibson

Players to Watch
QB Andrew Strickland is one of the best players in the country. Threw for 2,855 yards and 35 touchdowns last season while adding mobility that makes him dangerous outside the pocket.
HB Frank Goolsby averaged 5.8 yards per carry and gives Alabama balance when defenses focus on Strickland.
LB Zeph Petty is the team leader in tackles and sacks. The centerpiece of a defense loaded with talent.
MLB Marvin Gibson is sideline-to-sideline playmaker who anchors the middle of the defense.

Biggest Strength
The combination of elite quarterback play and overwhelming talent. Alabama has a top quarterback surrounded by NFL-caliber players on both sides of the ball. If Strickland gets hot, the Tide can score on anyone.

Biggest Concern
Turnovers in big games. Strickland's 35 touchdowns are impressive, but nine interceptions leave room for opponents to capitalize. Alabama is talented enough to beat anyone, but giveaways could be the difference in championship-level matchups.

2019 Prediction: 1st in SEC West, SEC Champions

Arkansas Razorbacks
By Darren Carter-Jones

Image
ARKANSAS QB D'ERIQ ROBINETTE

Alabama 2018: 12-2 (7-2, SEC Champs)
Head Coach: Porter Davis (12-2 Arkansas, 49-6 Career)

Key Players
QB D'Eriq Robinette
OLB Warren Lucas
HB Marques Long

Players to Watch
QB D'Eriq Robinette is engine of the offense. Passed for 1,704 yards and rushed for 1,172 more while accounting for 21 total touchdowns.
WR Javon Garcia will look to be Robinette's favorite target and the team's leading receiver.
K Joey Christodoulou is one of the nation's best kickers and a major weapon in close games.
DE Cornelius Davies is the returning team leader with three sacks and will be looking to prove that he can be one of the impact players on the defensive front.

Biggest Strength
Robinette's dual-threat ability. Arkansas can survive poor passing days because Robinette is capable of taking over a game with his legs. Defensive coordinators must account for him on every snap.

Biggest Concern
Overall roster depth and talent. Arkansas has several quality players, but compared to the SEC powers, the Razorbacks simply don't have the same number of elite difference-makers. If Robinette is slowed down, the offense becomes much easier to defend.

2019 Prediction: 3rd in SEC West

Auburn Tigers
By Darren Carter-Jones

Image
AUBURN QB JOHN RIDGEWAY

Auburn 2018: 9-4 (6-2)
Head Coach: Hank Hughes (16-10 Auburn, 16-10 Career)

Key Players
QB John Ridgeway
C Charlie Henley
LB Steven King

Players to Watch
QB John Ridgeway passed for 2,482 yards and 27 touchdowns while also leading the team in rushing.
WR Thomas Hayford is one of the conference's most productive receivers with 80 catches, 1,030 yards, and 10 touchdowns.
ROLB Steven King is a defensive star capable of disrupting games from the edge.
FS Jon Hamilton's elite speed gives Auburn a dangerous playmaker who can erase mistakes on the back end.

Biggest Strength
The passing game. Ridgeway and Hayford form one of the SEC's best quarterback-receiver combinations, and Auburn has enough speed at receiver to stretch defenses vertically.

Biggest Concern
Lack of a dominant traditional rushing attack. Ridgeway leads the team with just 515 rushing yards, meaning Auburn can become one-dimensional if opponents force them into obvious passing situations.

2019 Prediction: 2nd in SEC West

Florida Gators
By Darren Carter-Jones

Image
FLORIDA RB BRIAN WEBER

Florida 2018: 5-7 (4-4)
Head Coach: Charlie Strong (0-0 Florida, 53-37 Career)

Key Players
HB Brian Weber
OT Justin Rivero
WR Cole Johnston

Players to Watch
HB Brian Weber is a physical runner who rushed for 1,095 yards and eight touchdowns while averaging 6.3 yards per carry.
WR Cole Johnston is out to prove that he is a true No. 1 receiver. He comes into the season with 932 yards and 13 touchdowns.
QB Anthony Boyd complements Weber nicely, he threw for 2,616 yards and 28 touchdowns, giving Florida a balanced offensive attack.
DE Jonathan George comes into 2019 with five sacks and will be looking to become the biggest pass-rushing threat on the roster.

Biggest Strength
Balance. Florida can beat opponents through the air with Boyd and Johnston or pound defenses with Weber. Few teams in the conference have as much offensive versatility.

Biggest Concern
Defensive playmaking. The Gators generated only one interception from their team leader and don't appear to have a proven ball-hawking secondary. Against elite SEC quarterbacks, creating turnovers will be critical.

2019 Prediction: 3rd in SEC East

Georgia Bulldogs
By Darren Carter-Jones

Image
GEORGIA OT BRAD SULLIVAN

Georgia 2018: 9-5 (7-2)
Head Coach: Mark Richt (163-74 Georgia, 163-74 Career)

Key Players
FS Antwan Williamson
OT Brad Sullivan
LB Thomas Porter

Players to Watch
CB Daniel Dowdell leads the team with five career interceptions and gives Georgia a legitimate game-changing defender.
DE Kyle Coley wants to build on his seven sacks and be the Bulldogs' most disruptive defensive player.
RB Dan Lake has rushed for 853 yards and 10 touchdowns, he should serve as the focal point of the offense.
TE Clay Singletary looks to have a breakout season, he has produced 870 yards and eight touchdowns despite inconsistent quarterback play.

Biggest Strength
Defense. Georgia's top playmakers are on that side of the ball, led by Coley's pass rush and Dowdell's ball skills. This is a unit capable of keeping the Bulldogs in games even when the offense struggles.

Biggest Concern
Quarterback play. Sophomore Sam Wade completed only 60 passes while throwing seven interceptions against just two touchdowns. Senior Kyle Harris has not yet been able to take the starting job but he will have a chance this spring. Until Georgia finds more consistency under center, opponents will focus on stopping the run and forcing the Bulldogs to throw.

2019 Prediction: 4th in SEC East

Kentucky Wildcats
By Darren Carter-Jones

Image
KENTUCKY OT MIKE THOMPSON

Kentucky 2018: 4-8 (2-6 SEC)
Head Coach: Robert Anae (7-6 Career, 1st Season at Kentucky)

Key Players
OT Mike Thompson
RE Kelvin Miller
QB Desmond Archie

Players to Watch
QB Desmond Archie threw for 899 yards and six touchdowns during limited action last season and now takes over the offense full-time. Running back Chris Richards averaged 5.3 yards per carry and gives Kentucky a reliable ground threat, while wide receiver Dwayne Miller returns after posting 58 receptions for 733 yards.

Biggest Strength
The Wildcats have experience in the trenches led by Thompson, one of the SEC's top offensive linemen.

Biggest Concern
Kentucky struggled to a 4-8 record and lacks proven playmakers on both sides of the ball compared to the rest of the SEC East contenders.

2019 Prediction: 6th in SEC East
