The transfer portal window has come and gone, and while Mississippi State didn't exactly turn the roster upside down, the moves that were made carry a clear fingerprint.

New offensive coordinator Jaleel Mosley didn't waste any time going back to the well. Three of the six incoming Bulldogs — running back Austin Carlisle, defensive tackle Jonathan Davis and receiver Jamaal Jordan — are following him from Texas State, where he just won a Pac-12 title.

Carlisle is the headliner here, and it isn't close. The do-everything back put together arguably the best season in Texas State history last year, racking up 1,139 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns on the ground to go with 107 catches for 1,128 yards and 12 more scores through the air. He swept the Doak Walker and Paul Hornung Awards and finished as a Heisman finalist. Getting a player of that caliber to follow you across conferences isn't nothing, and it's a pretty clear signal of how much trust Mosley has built with him.

247Sports has the Bulldogs' portal class ranked No. 38 nationally. That's not a number that's going to turn heads, and with a six-player class, it's not really built to. But rankings built on volume were never going to be kind to a class this size. What matters is fit, and on that front, Mississippi State did fine.
