gotta keep y'all on your toes!

Like I said previously, I originally was going to go with Danielson, but BSU -> ASU isn't a huge promotion at this point. Makes more sense for him to wait for Oregon or other blue bloods to come calling

Ashton Stamps Files Transfer Paperwork While Long Declares For NFL Draft
Sun Devil's biggest returning starters leave Tempe with little star power

Owen Long and Ashton Stamps, along with Lyrick Rawls and Emar'rion Winston, were the heart and soul of the maligned Sun Devils defense in 2026.

Now, all four will be gone. Rawls and Winston both exhausted their eligibility after their senior seasons, while Stamps will enter the transfer portal as he looks to finish his final year of eligibility and Long—a projected fifth round pick—opted to cash in on his stock now after a stellar first season in Tempe.

"We wish them the best," said a measured Charlie Weis Jr. to the media, "Obviously, they are talented players. We'd love to have them back. But we only want guys who want to be here and be a part of what we're building."

"Unfortunately, they didn't see the vision, so now they'll have to watch us shine from afar."

While Stamps and Long departed, longtime Sun Devil CJ Fite once again stayed put, signaling he was going to end his collegiate career in Tempe.

"I can't leave after all we've been through ASU!" he posted on IG with a picture of him and ASU mascot Sparky.

In all, the Sun Devils will be losing 21 total players from last year's squad. Joining Long in declaring for the draft was redshirt junior Reed Harris, while several Sun Devils from the bottom of the roster also filed their paperwork.

You never want to see guys leave, but I'm going to follow Coach Weis Jr.'s lead here.

If you don't want to be here, don't let the door hit ya on the way out.

Arizona State Heavily Recruiting Austin Mack As Portal Opens
UCLA, Cal also recruiting former Huskies recruit

Austin Mack entered the 2026 season expecting to compete with Keelon Russell for the Crimson Tide's quarterback job, having spent the previous two seasons behind Jalen Milroe and Ty Simpson after following Kalen DeBoer from Washington.

Russell ultimately won the job for the campaign, winning the Shaun Alexander Award as the best freshman in the country. Then, Kalen DeBoer was fired by the Crimson Tide after a 5-7 season.

Both played a role in Mack finally entering the transfer portal ahead of his final year of eligibility.

"I don't have any regrets over how it panned out, but at some point, you gotta do what's best for you," said Austin Mack about entering the portal.

The former four-star recruit did not appear in any games with the Crimson Tide last season, but contributed 250 yards and three touchdowns in spot duty during the 2025 campaign.

Mack stands at 6'6" and 230 pounds. Despite his lack of playing time, one source is still very high on Mack's measurables.

"He still has the plus arm; that hasn't gone anywhere," began the scout, "He can get it to all three levels of the field without a problem. His accuracy is more than adequate in the short and intermediate routes, but his deep ball really shines. If it wasn't for Russell's athleticism, Mack would have won the job. And for what it's worth, the Crimson Tide's passing attack would have stretched a few more teams vertically with Mack's arm strength as opposed to Russell's athleticism."

Mack is scheduled to visit Tempe in a few days' time and is expected to take visits to Los Angeles for UCLA as well as Berkeley for the Golden Bears.

Losing all those pieces to the draft/graduation/portal has gotta sting but getting a disgruntled Mack to Tempe sure would lessen that pain.

we still got a solid OL, plenty of HBs, and an underrated speedy WR core. Just need someone to get them the ball without finding the defense and we should be gucci

defense is another story. Gonna be rough even IF we get all of our numerous targers
