Pittsburgh, PA. - The Baltimore Ravens came to Acrisure Stadium Sunday with nothing to play for in the standings and everything to play for in the rivalry. For a half, they made Pittsburgh pay for looking past them.

Baltimore jumped out to a 21-7 lead midway through the second quarter, the final blow coming when a Josiah Trader punt return fumble gifted the Ravens a short field that Kendre Miller converted with a three-yard touchdown grab. The Steelers, with the AFC's top seed long since secured, looked every bit like a team that had mentally checked out of the regular season.

Then Leonard Lawry found his rhythm.

With time winding down in the first half, Lawry engineered a sharp two-minute drive and found Ryan Williams on a 15-yard touchdown strike to pull Pittsburgh within seven at the break — a score that felt more significant than the seven points it represented. The Steelers carried genuine momentum into the locker room, and they came out of it a completely different team.

Quinshon Judkins set the tone immediately, grinding out 55 yards on the opening drive of the second half before powering into the end zone to knot the score at 21. From there Pittsburgh's offense was relentless. Zachariah Branch hauled in a touchdown pass as the third quarter expired to give the Steelers their first lead of the afternoon, and Rueben Owens extended it to fourteen early in the fourth.

Baltimore briefly threatened to make things interesting. Travis Etienne Jr. gashed Pittsburgh for a 29-yard touchdown and the Ravens converted the two-point attempt to pull within six, momentarily stirring the road crowd. Owens answered with authority on the ensuing drive, capping a lengthy, clock-consuming march with a one-yard plunge that effectively ended any remaining suspense.

The 29-point second half was the kind of statement performance, from a team with nothing at stake in the standings, that sends a message to the rest of the AFC heading into January.

The win moves Pittsburgh to 15-1 and carries the secondary benefit of improving the Steelers' draft positioning, as they hold Baltimore's first-round pick heading into next spring. Pittsburgh closes out the 2029 regular season next week against the Green Bay Packers.

I was sweating it for a minute in the second quarter, but once we found a groove it was smooth sailing :blessed:

Nathan Scheelhaase Announces Pittsburgh Will Rest Key Starters In Week 18 Tilt

Image

Pittsburgh, PA. - The Pittsburgh Steelers are 15-1, have the AFC's top seed locked up, own a first-round bye, and are playing their regular season finale on the road. Nathan Scheelhaase has seen enough.

The second-year head coach confirmed Wednesday that a significant number of Pittsburgh's key starters will sit out Sunday's season finale at Lambeau Field, prioritizing player health over a sixteenth win in what amounts to a high-stakes exhibition game for a team with nothing left to prove in the regular season.

"I know the debate, but this is the decision we've made," Scheelhaase said after practice. "If we were at home, in front of our own fans, it might be different. But we've had a great season and we don't want to see it implode because someone gets their knee shredded in a glorified exhibition game."

When asked to identify which starters would be sitting out, Scheelhaase was characteristically blunt.

"It'd be easier to tell you who was starting."

Among the handful of regulars expected to see meaningful snaps Sunday are tight end Gabe Gomez, middle linebacker Jason Verndon, defensive end Cole Rogan, cornerback Zamari Stevenson, and safety Jermaine Ward. The rest of the depth chart will get a rare opportunity to close out the regular season under the lights at Lambeau.

Jaxson Dart will start at quarterback in place of Leonard Lawry, giving the backup signal caller his first meaningful action of the 2030 season and a chance to shake off the rust and prove he still has the talent to be an NFL starting QB.
