Huskies offensive struggles on display in loss to Titans

Despite a new head coach, a new play caller, a new quarterback along with some new threads and a different country, the offensive struggles of last year's Washington Redskins have followed the Toronto Huskies.

Trevor Lawrence and the first team offense played three quarters, scoring just six points in the 27-13 loss to the Detroit Lions. Lawrence had his worst day as a pro, going 12 of 26 for 176 yards and two interceptions.

Defensively, Su'a Cravens flashed as a potential replacement for Keanu Neal at safety while the free agent addition recovers from an injury.

The secondary took another hit with Chidobe Awuzi breaking his thumb while running back Cade Carney broke his ribs.

It was a quiet night for receivers Antonio Brown and Chris Godwin with both of them failing to catch a single pass despite three quarters of actions for Godwin and two quarters for Brown.

Godwin had just three catches for 38 yards after signing a lucrative four-year deal with the Huskies this offseason.

Trevor Lawrence 'begged and pleaded' with head coach Eric Bienemy to allow the rookie quarterback to play on Friday after initially, no starters were scheduled to play.

Lawrence put together a solid 5 for 6 showing for 74 yards and a touchdown as the Toronto Huskies wrapped up their first ever preseason with a 26-17 win over the Los Angeles Rams and finish 2-2.

Antonio Brown had eight catches for 87 yards while Trent Taylor caught three passes for 53 yards, two veterans that are hoping to make the crack at receiver. With Terry McLaurin, Chris Godwin and Rondale Moore locking up spots at receiver, it's likely that only two more receivers will be carried on the roster.

Brown released along with 21 others as rosters finalized

Antonio Brown led all Toronto Huskies' receivers with 19 catches for 238 yards during the preseason. He stayed out of trouble and off of social media. Despite this, the Huskies released the veteran along with 21 other players to cut down to their 53-man roster.

According to reports, the team was worried about having Brown around some of their younger receivers such as Rondale Moore, Terry McLaurin and Steven Sims, who was on the roster bubble before making the roster.

The team released quarterbacks Cardale Jones and Matt Barkley, running backs Shaun Wilson, Jordan Cronkrite and Darryngton Evans, fullback Dominique Drew, wide receivers Darvin Kidsy, Darrius Shepherd, Austin Proehl, Cam Sims, Mack Hollin and Kelvin Harmon, tight end Caleb Wilsoncenter Ross Pierschbacher, defensive tackle Kendrick Weldon, outside linebacker Trevon Young, inside linebackers Josh Harris, Imani Gardner and Perry Nicholas, cornerback Deon McDonald, safety Jeremy Ravens andsafety Deshazor Everett.

They also signed running back Jaylen Samuels following placing safety Dwayne Woodard on IR.
