‣ Jones makes return as Bigby heads to IR

The Toronto Huskies have placed cornerback Donovan Bigby on the injured reserve list, ending his rookie season.

Bigby, selected with the 12th pick in the second round, had 54 tackles and two interceptions on the season along with four pass breakups before breaking his collarbone last week against Green Bay. Bigby had replaced CB Sidney Jones IV, who was benched due to poor play and then sidelined with a dislocated elbow.

Jones is expected to make an early return this week, likely due to the injury to Bigby and the need for a nickel corner. The addition of Malcolm Butler along with the return of Lavert Hill gives Toronto some much needed depth following Bigby's injury.

‣ Hurd frustrated with injuries, looks to make switch to receiver

Jalen Hurd spoke to reporters on his way out of the locker room on Sunday, announcing that he had broken his toe in the win against Green Bay. Hurd expressed frustrations with his strings of injury and mentioned that he hopes to he makes a return to receiver after switching over to running back this season.

"I left the position [running back] for a reason," Hurd said without prompt to a pool of reporters, "It's not good for my body, it's not in my best interest."

Despite the injuries, Hurd is averaging 6.8 yards per carry and has 491 yards on 72 carries this season. He had just seventeen career catches heading into this season in his two seasons in San Francisco after missing his rookie year with an injury.

Hurd's unwilling-less to play the position likely means he is on the outs as the team wasted no time to place him on IR despite the prognosis for his injury allowing him to return in two to four weeks.

The Huskies signed running back Travis Homer and receiver/return specialist Deonte Harris.

‣ McLaurin, Huskies 'miles apart' in negotiations

Toronto Huskies receiver Terry McLaurin picked a good season to have a career year, just as his rookie contract is expiring. Despite this and the Huskies offense humming, the Huskies and McLaurin's camp are 'miles apart' when it comes to getting an extension deal.

According to reports, McLaurin views himself as a WR1 worthy of such a payday, the Huskies do not. In fact, many within the organization view McLaurin as close to being a WR3 behind Chris Godwin and Rondale Moore, who head coach Eric Bienemy has compared to Tyreke Hill.

McLaurin is a mix of Moore's speed and Godwin's natural receiver abilities but has yet to put together a WR1-type season, certainly not one worth the $49-$55 million price range that he is asking for, although the potential is clearly there.

With Godwin set to make $15.4 million next season, the Huskies might be hard press to invest so much into another receiver when Moore is also looking at a big pay day in 2025.
