Growing up, Los Angeles Chargers QB Will Castonzo had a Michael Vick poster on his wall. The only other? Lamar Jackson at Louisville. On Sunday, Castonzo will try to right the ship of the sinking Chargers' season against his former idol.
Baltimore is winners of two straight while the Chargers, after starting the season unblemished, have dropped three straight games. They get some more ammunition in the tank back with CB Donovan Bigby expected to make his return and Castonzo being a full participant in practice after playing last week with a shoulder brace.
Outside of having similar athletic and mobile quarterbacks, the Chargers and Ravens have similar team identities with both teams wanting to run the football, establish the pace and let their defense carry them home.
From a seeding perspective, this game could be for all the marbles. With a win, Baltimore would propel themselves from the fifth seed to potentially the top seed in the AFC if both the Texans and the Steelers also lose. With a loss, their playoff spot could dwindle away if both Denver and Cincinnati win.
The Chargers are guaranteed to make the playoffs but their seed is not. They can slide to as low as the fourth seed with a loss to the Ravens and a Pittsburgh and Houston win. They can also clinch a top two seed with a win and a Pittsburgh and Houston loss.

Jackson Intercepted Three Times as Chargers Halt Losing Streak
Los Angeles was desperate for a win to stop their three game losing streak and keep a first round bye alive.
They did just that in Baltimore, intercepting Lamar Jackson three times and used a ball control offense to cruise their way to a 40-23 win over the Ravens on Sunday.
Will Castonzo threw for 208 yards, throwing and rushing for a touchdown with no turnovers. Derrick Henry added 113 yards on the ground.
Lamar Jackson was able to throw for 347 yards but was kept in the pocket with no rushing yards and three interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown, another led to a field goal and his third came in the redzone. Add in a kickoff return touchdown for the Chargers and Baltimore's chances of winning an important game went from slim to none.

It took a few detours and hiccups along the way but ultimately, the Los Angeles Chargers have a chance to go from worst to first. After finishing with the worst record in the league last season, the Chargers can clinch the top seed in the AFC as well as the best record in football with a win over the lowly New York Jets.
The Chargers have already secured a first-round bye and the only thing in play now is that top seed. Pittsburgh is currently tied with the Chargers who have the head-to-head tie breaker so should both teams win -- or lose -- the Chargers would be #1 and the Steelers #2. Pittsburgh plays Baltimore who has already secured the fifth seed in the playoffs.
Individually, there are a few milestones as stake. Chargers QB Will Castonzo needs 134 yards passing to reach 3,000-yards on the year and just 37 rushing yards to reach 1,000-yards, becoming the first rookie QB to ever do so.
Chargers DE Joey Bosa also has a shot at the sack record as he currently sits at 20.5 with the record being 24, set in 2023 by Toronto's Chase Young.

Chargers Comeback Falls Short as Time Runs Out in Loss to Jets
It wasn't that long ago when the Los Angeles Chargers appeared to be a formidable, unmovable object. Those days are long gone.
The Chargers rally fell short as they could not line up in time to spike the football as the New York Jets ended their season with a 24-21 win.
The Jets jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first half after a Will Castonzo interception, fumble and a Kyree Sampson fumble all led to touchdowns for the Jets. The Chargers changed their gameplan defensively and started being more aggressive, resulting in punts and by extension, Chargers touchdown.
Castonzo did enough to throw for 3,000 yards in a season and also rush for 1,000 yards, becoming the first rookie QB to ever do so.
Los Angeles had a few chances to take the lead, throwing an interception on one, failing to convert on fourth down on another and on their final attempt, they had the chance to kick a field goal but instead chose to pass the ball with 15 seconds left and no timeout.
The pass was completed but there wasn't enough time to spike the ball.
