Match #1: Prototype vs. Mick Foley vs. Voodoo (c) | Triple Threat Ladder Match | Hardcore Championship
Seems like this was a realy great match to open the show. I liked the different strategies of Foley going after the ladder and Voodoo going after him then Prototype looking for the quick win. Then the back and forth between Prototype and Foley before Voodoo snuck back in the finish it off and grab the belt. Solid match, especially as an opener. Got the excitement up quick.
Match #2: Beth Phoenix vs. Lita (c) | One on One Normal Match | Women's Championship
Phoenix was able to overpower Lita here and kept the match grounded enough to get the win. I'd like to see these two keep at it for a while, they seem to be talented and good workers.
Match #3: Sting vs. Undertaker | One on One Normal Match
Seems like Taker had the match in hand for the bulk of it but let Sting back in with the rope break and he caught him off guard to get the win, shocking how quickly things turned and quite a way for Taker to lose his first.
Match #4: John Cena (c) vs. Chris Benoit | One on One Normal Match | United States Championship
Surprised Cena had it so easy against Benoit. Will be interesting to see if someone can take Cena down (hopefully).
Match #5: The nWo vs. D-Generation X (c)| Two on Two Tag Team | World Tag Team Championships
What a match up! nWo just won it with power and having softened up DX over the past few shows seemed to help.
Match #6: Chris Jericho (c) vs. Rob Van Dam | One on One Normal Match | Intercontinental Championship
Maybe the match of the night, seemed like a lot of back and forth and you could see the momentum going RVD's way but Jericho had just enough left at the end to counter the splash and knew the Walls would be too much.
Main Event: Edge vs. Brock Lesnar (c) | One on One Normal Match | World Heavyweight Championship
Still need to watch this one, glad to see Edge won. I think he brings a little variety to the Heavyweight Championship.

May 2003 | Week 1 | Louisville, KY
In the first match following Mania, John Cena was set to face newcomer, Samoa Joe in singles action. Joe took the champ by surprise and dominated him at first. The big man was strong but also surprisingly quick and Cena simply wasn't ready for his moveset. However, wily as ever, Cena was able to hit Joe with a low blow while the official was distracted to regain the advantage. He hit the Five Knuckle Shuffle and the F-U and went for the cover, but Joe somehow kicked out. Rattled, Cena looked around in confusion before getting angry and lifting up Joe for a second F-U that he wouldn't kick out of. Good challenge from the newcomer but not quite enough to beat Cena. After the match ended though, another newcomer, Shinsuke Nakamura from New Japan Pro Wrestling, appeared on the stage and stared down Cena, pointing at his United States Championship.

The new World Heavyweight Champion, Edge, came out to gloat about winning the championship over Lesnar at Wrestlemania. He was partway through bragging about how Lesnar couldn't even come after his title because he was on a different show now, when... Goldberg's music started to play. Goldberg strutte dinto the ring confidently and addressed Edge simply, "Hey Edge! If you thought that title was safe because Lesnar's on a different show, think again. Because, YOU'RE NEXT!" And with that Goldberg laid out the champ with a massive spear before stomping around the ring triumphantly.
Match #2: Rikishi vs. Kevin Nash | One on One Normal Match
One half of Too Cool took on one half of the World Tag Team Champions, nWo in this contest. Nash was a much more talented wrestler than Rikishi, but it seemed the unorthodox and somewhat... offputting wrestling style of Rikishi put off the champ. Nash had a few moments where he could've put Rikishi away but he was continually flustered by Rikishi's dance moves, including him wriggling about on the mat after being hit with a huge slam. The lack of killer instinct cost Nash when Rikishi whipped him into the corner and hit him with the Stink Face. Nash was so disgusted that he couldn't react to Rikishi's next move, the Banzai Drop as Rikishi took him down and got a massive victory over one half of the tag champs. After the match, The Miz, Rikishi's new partner as part of Too Cool came out and the two did a celebratory dance. Will they go after the tag titles next?

Batista practically ran over Dolph Ziggler in this one and it looked like it was going to be over within a minute. He attacked Ziggler part-way through his entrance, then unleashed an assault that ended in a spear and a Batista Bomb. Just as Batista was about to go for the cover though, we heard the sound of glass shattering and Stone Cold Steve Austin appeared on the stage. Batista was distracted by this and the momentary lapse gave Ziggler time to roll him up into a small package. One, two, three! Ziggler absolutely stole this one, and while Austin laughed on the stage, Batista was furious and went after Ziggler attacking him mid celebration with another Batista Bomb. Ziggler lay unconscious in the ring but he had qualified for the first RAW is WAR slot in the Money in the Bank ladder match and Batista was furious about how Austin had cost him.

Voodoo came down to the ring to close the show and announced that the first superstar to accept his challenge could come down and have a match one on one for the Hardcore Championship. With the belt now floating between shows, he wanted it to be defended as much as possible on regular TV to fully showcase it. Mansa was the one who answered the call, and though he had already lost a match against Voodoo previously, looked determined to change his fortunes this time around. It originally looked like Mansa would be destroyed by the champ when Voodoo got his hands on a baseball bat, but Mansa was able to disarm him after taking a couple big shots to the torso with the weapon. He then grabbed a ladder from under the ring and leaned it up against the ring post. Mansa laid Voodoo against the ladder and ruthlessly tackled him into it over and over again, badly hurting the champ. For once Voodoo looked vulnerable, and when Mansa hit a massive superkick, it looked like his reign might finally be over but Voodoo kicked out at two and a half. Looking for one final move to end it, Mansa picked up Voodoo and looked to powerbomb him into the ladder. Voodoo slipped out of this though and completely against the flow of the match, hit a Voodoo Bomb and Mansa was OUT. One, two, three. Voodoo's undefeated streak continues as Hardcore Champion.

At the time the brand split was announced, it was also declared by Stephanie and Shane McMahon that Brock Lesnar, the former World Heavyweight Champion, would take on a superstar of their choosing for the vacant new flagship title of Smackdown!, the WWE Championship. The man they chose to face him? The People's Champion, The Rock. And rather than leave that until the main event, the match was set to kick-off the show. Lesnar waited in the ring while The Rock's music played, but he wasn't coming out. Several seconds later he finally did, with Kurt Angle's hand around the back of his neck. Angle threw The Rock to the ground and inserted himself into the match instead! Angle caught Lesnar by surprise, going after his legs trying to soften him up for an Ankle Lock throughout the match. When he finally did apply the hold, Lesnar refused to tap and eventually scrambled to the ropes to break the submission. This infuriated Angle who went for a weapon and started blasting Lesnar's leg with it, ending the match in a disqualification. There will be no championship awarded today and one has to wonder what Angle's intentions are here.

Y2J came out to brag to the WWE Universe about his big victory over Rob Van Dam at Wrestlemania. Not only had he forced RVD to tap for a second time to retain his title, but he'd also "forced" RVD to leave the company altogether after just a short stint with the WWE. Jericho was going on about how nobody could beat him when Bobby Lashley interrupted him. He had a few choice words for Jericho, "You know, Chris, you do a lot of talking. That's not exactly my strong suit, but you know what is? Kicking ass. So why don't you put that Intercontinental Title on the line against me tonight and we'll see if you really are the best in the world at what you do?" Jericho refused to be goaded into a fight by Lashley and before slipping out of the ring said, "I have nothing to prove to your Bobby, and frankly, you don't deserve a title match. Take it up with the bosses."
Middle Card Promo: Rey Mysterio
"You know WWE Universe, the last year has been good to me. Other than a bump in the road with my former friend, Eddie Guerrero, I've done very well. I won a championship, I competed strongly in the Royal Rumble and the King of the Ring tournaments, and I showed that even us little guys can make it big in the WWE. But you know, I've been thinking. I made my name as a cruiserweight in that high-flying division back in the WCW, and well, I'd like to get back to my roots. That's why I'm calling out the current cruiserweight champion, Daniel Bryan to come down here and face me." Daniel Bryan was out seconds later, happy to have a discussion with Mysterio, "Rey, since I won this belt I've been a fighting champion, and that's not going to stop here. Unlike Chris Jericho earlier, I am going to honour your request for a championship match. It won't be tonight, but like you said you are one of the greatest cruiserweights to ever wrestle, and I want to show that I can topple you." Rey and Daniel shook hands and went their separate ways, it looks like at some point we'll get a match between the two for the belt.
Match #2: The Colons (4) vs. The Usos (5) | Two on Two Tag Team | WWE Tag Team Championship Tournament Quarter-Final
The Colons and The Usos, two young twin tag teams were set to debut on the main roster with a WWE Tag Team Championship Semi-Final matchup against D-Generation X on the line. It was the Usos who appeared to seize the opportunity early, as their aerial attack seemed a bit too much for the more cerebral Colons to deal with. Both Usos tried locking each of the twins in Tequila Sunrise submission holds, but neither of those were successful. A hot tag from Epico to Primo Colon rebuilt some momentum for the Colons, but their attempt at their signature Shining Star finisher was countered by Jey Uso. Not long later, he was teaming up for his brother for an Uso Splash on Primo that did connect. While Jey went for the pin, Jimmy ran across to the other corner and took out Epico, preventing him from breaking things up as The Usos picked up the win and advanced to the semi-final.

The 25-year-old former TNA superstar, AJ Styles was set to make his debut in this match against one of Velocity's call-ups Prototype, with the winner earning a spot in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match. This was a back and forth affair with the contrast between AJ Styles flair style and Prototype's physical former football player wrestling style leading to an intriguing match. When Prototype connected with clotheslines, AJ countered with kicks and diving moves and vice versa. At one point, Prototype hit Styles with a big sidewalk slam then climbed the top rope and delivered his Diving Elbow Drop. That only got a two count, but undeterred, he poised himself to hit Styles with the Spin Out Powerbomb to put him away. AJ countered this though and responded with a spinning heel kick that caught Prototype square on the temple, knocking him down. It was now his turn to get up slowly, and as he did Styles waited patiently on the apron and then pounced with a big Phenomenal Forearm. Prototype was out cold and all that was left was for Styles to grab the pin and earn the first Smackdown! slot in the Money in the Bank Ladder match to end the show.
