May 2003 | Week 2 | Biloxi, MS
Edge came out to watch the first match of the night as Goldberg, who had speared him last week, took on Batista. These two colossal wrestlers have very similar fighting styles, with both, like Edge also having the Spear in their arsenal. It was a very even contest between the two until Edge decided to get involved. He distracted Goldberg when the action spilled out to ringside, allowing Batista to blast him with an attack from behind. Batista rolled him back into the ring, looking to capitalize, but when he re-entered, he was hit with a massive spear. Goldberg waited for Batista to rise to his feet after writhing in pain, and then hit The Animal with the Jackhammer to seal the victory, much to the annoyance of the World Heavyweight Champion, Edge, who had hoped his distraction would cost Goldberg the match.

Off the back of Rikishi's impressive win over Kevin Nash last week, the nWo challenged Rikishi and The Miz (Too Cool) to a tag team match. This one was over surprisingly quickly. Kevin Nash and Rikishi started things off and Nash was initially overpowering the Samoan superstar. He whipped him into the corner and went for a massive clothesline, but accidentally took out Scott Hall with it instead when Rikishi dodged. This moment of confusion gave Rikishi enough time to toss Nash out of the ring. He then motioned to The Miz and Irish Whipped him, giving him enough momentum to run and baseball slide both Nash and Hall simultaneously outside the ring. Rikishi went outside, rolled Nash back in, into the corner and hit him with the Stinkface again to take him out and win the match.

After his staredown with John Cena last week, the King of Strong Style, Shinsuke Nakamura was set to make his WWE in-ring debut against Bulk Bronson. Nakamura caught Bronson off guard from the get-go with his strong striking style, but eventually Bulk adapted to it and started to overpower the newcomer with his power game. Nakamura rebounded and went for a flying clothesline as he ran towards Bulk, but Bronson countered it into a Pop-Up Powerbomb. He went for the cover but only got the two count. Bulk stayed on Nakamura though and position himself for the Muscle Buster to end the match. Bulk lifted Nakamura up for the move, but Shinsuke slipped out and countered with an Inverted Powerslam, flattening Bulk. Then, almost seconds later, Nakamura hit Bulk square across the face with a running leg strike, his finishing move, the Kinshasa. Bulk was out cold and Shinsuke covered him for the three count and a hard-fought victory on his debut. Following the match, John Cena came out and faced Nakamura in the ring. The usually talkative Cena said nothing and just raised the title above his head while Nakamura pointed at it knowingly.

Austin was all over Booker from the start here, eager to earn a spot in the Money in the Bank ladder match. Booker really found it hard to get any offense going, and Austin eventually caught him with a big Lou Thesz Press and series of punches straight to the head. After that, Austin hit Booker with the Stone Cold Stunner, and it looked like it was surely over almost as soon as it started. One, two... Sharmell? Sharmell pulled the referee out of the ring to prevent him from concluding the the three count. The referee then started arguing with Sharmell outside the ring, and Austin shifted his attention to that trying to figure out what was going on. When he finally turned around, he was on the receiving end of a massive spear from... Batista, the same man who he'd cost a spot in the Money in the Bank ladder match last week. Batista jumped over the barricade and disappeared and the referee was non the wiser when he returned to the ring. Booker then took advantage of a slowly rising Austin to hit him with the Axe Kick and pick up the victory. King Booker earns a spot in the match and will have an opportunity to be Mr. Money in the Bank for a second straight year.

The Women's Champion, Beth Phoenix physically dominated both of her competitors in the match, as both basically took turns being tossed all over the ring. The tides didn't change until MIckie and Trish decided to work together to take Beth out of the picture and turn it into a one on one match between themselves. A Stratusphere from Trish and Mick Kick from James helped down Beth. The two then squared off, with the more experienced Trish Stratus gaining the advantage and planting a vicious Chick Kick on Mickie. James wisely rolled out of the ring though before she could be pinned. By this time, Beth Phoenix had recovered and started to go one on one with Trish. Stratus was quickly overmatched, and eventually hit with a Glam Slam. Beth was about to go for the cover, but Mickie James scrambled back into the ring and caught her by surprise with a Floating DDT. She kicked Beth out of the ring, and covered Trish Stratus, who was still laid out from the earlier Glam Slam to steal a massive victory in the Triple Threat matchup.

Just as Jericho had "recommended" last week, Bobby Lashley did, in fact, decide to "take it up with the bosses". And Stephanie McMahon obliged to give him a one on one match with the Intercontinental Champion, although it would not be for the title. Lashley started off hot, dominating the champion, but Jericho hadn't gotten his title by accident, and his cunning eventually gave him the advantage. He tripped up Lashley and hit a Lionsault on him then looked to lock him in the Lion's Tamer, Lashley countered it though and powerslammed Jericho. He went for the spear and it connected but Jericho somehow kicked out at two to Lashley's bewilderment. He lost focus at that point and it cost him. When Lashley did finally try to come back and finish the job, Jericho wrapped him up in Small Package and pinned him to get the somewhat cheap victory. Jericho celebrated like he'd won a title while Lashley laughed at himself and how he'd let Y2J get one over on him. He went to shake hands with Jericho after the match in a show of good sportsmanship but Jericho slapped his hand away and pointed to the locker room, "I told you you're not good enough, so leave, this is my show." Surprisingly, Lashley did actually leave, but I'm sure this won't be the last we hear of him in the IC title picture.

The Rock looked to get some payback against Angle for attacking him before his WWE Championship match last week. This match very quickly turned into a fist fight as The Rock and Angle traded punch for punch. That was more The Rock's territory, though, and he eventually won the fist fight, knocking Angle out of the ring with his patented "look at the hand" punch. Angle grew frustrated by this and attempted to simply leave the match. On his way up the ramp though, Brock Lesnar was there to meet him and he threw Angle back into the ring. When Kurt collected himself he was met with Rock Bottom from The Rock that laid him out flat for the 1, 2, 3. Not exactly the greatest showing for the former olympian.

Bryan and Mysterio were set to face each other in a few weeks for the Cruiserweight Championship, but before that the two diminutive superstars had a gargantuan task ahead of them in the Brothers of Destruction. They were actually able to win this match though when Bryan caught Kane by surprise with his Running Knee finisher. He was going to go for the pin but Mysterio tagged himself in and went for the West Coast Pop to get the glory instead. Bryan was pissed about this after the match and got into an argument with Rey before shoving him to the ground and walking away.

Apollo has had a rough go of it since joining the WWE, and recently expressed his concerns both to management about getting hoe'd. Those fell upon deaf ears, though and he decided to take things into his own hands. Apollo came out to the ring with none other than the Million Dollar Man Ted DIBiase at his side, as he had signed a lucrative deal with DiBiase to have him as his manager and promoter, like a proper boxer would. Apollo's new heelish persona took over, as he attacked Christian well before he even made it to the ring, and bloodied him with a chair before the bell rang. The referee asked Christian if he wanted to continue, and being the fighter he is, he said yes. Big mistake, almost right out of the gate, Apollo hit him with a KO Punch to put him to sleep and get the win. And with that, Apollo earned the second Smackdown! spot in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match.

The returning Dudley Boyz teamed up to take on the new tag team of Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin known as American Alpha. Both superstars have collegiate wrestling backgrounds and their new personas are based on their diehard appreciation for the United States and their role in its success as athletes. And athleticism is exactly what they showed off in this contest. The Dudley Boyz looked rusty, and when they went for the 3-D to put away Shelton Benjamin, they failed to execute it properly, causing Bubba Ray to hurt himself. D-Von went to check on his partner and Benjamin took advantage of that moment of concern to pelt D-Von in the back of the head with a Superkick, knocking him out. He rolled him up for the pin as American Alpha pulled off the upset to advance to the second semi-final to face The Brothers of Destruction in two weeks.

I need to be getting more push in this bih. Y'all already fucked up my career with the Dynasty Sports Screwjob. I expect a Goldberg esque undefeated run.
